“ Brand: Asda / Type: Other Ready Meals „
I like quick and easy meals and snacks and for me this is perfect. I would refer to it more as a snack, however I have had it as dinner in the past through pure laziness!
The kit consists of one large bag of nachos and two packs of salsa sauce. It can be prepared in the oven or microwave. You can add jalapenos, cheese and any of your favourite toppings. I empty half of the bag of nachos on to a plate, cover them evenly with the salsa and then cover with grated cheese. It is done in approximately two minutes. I can finish this amount on my own but it is enough for two to share.
I originally bought this kit as it was on offer in Asda for £1 around 4 years ago. I later tried the Old El Paso Kit and the sauce was no where near as nice as Asda's own. Asda's sauce has kidney beans whereas Old El Paso does not. Asda's kit is now priced as £1.91 as opposed to Old El Paso's at £2.84. Asda's kit is also in their "chosen by you" range.
My only complaint about this kit is that you have two packs of salsa and only one pack of nachos so when you pour out the nachos you have to make sure you leave enough nachos for your second sitting - hard work!!
I don't often shop at Asda, as when I am at uni I only have the option to go to Morrisons, but when I go home I pay a special trip to Asda when I fancy Mexican, purely because their Nacho dinner kits are so lovely.
I don't remember how much they cost full price but are very often on offer for £1 which is how I first came across them.
In the box comes a generous bag of nacho chips, and 2 large sachets of bean salsa.
The actual nachos are thinner than say Old El Passo but are still delicious, as I think the thicker nacho chips can sometimes taste a little too much of corn and be a bit dry.
The salsa is quite sweet for my taste and not too spicy, and even though I usually like spicy food, I quite like the change of having this one which has a sweet twist to it.
The box has easy to follow instructions telling you how to prepare the dinner. It suggests adding peppers, onions and jalepenos as well as plenty of grated cheese. I usually just use cheese as my boyfriend detests onions and I don't tend to buy jalepenos.
I layer the chips and salsa into a large bowl, sprinkling plenty (and probably too much) cheese as I go and then pop the bowl into the microwave for a few minutes.
The nachos complete a perfect mexican feast dipped in guacamole, or perfect for snacking on whilst watching a film.
These are by far my favourite nacho kits and buy the box because I find the salsa so yummy-try it especially if it is on offer!
