      Disadvantages

Not awful but they're nothing that exciting either!

I love any food really covered in pastry however I do try to avoid it for the sake of my hips of course! However seeing these on offer in Asda recently at 50p a box from their usual price tag of a pound a box I thought they had to be worth a try and really fancied them!

      The Packaging:

Dark brown and pink box and on the front of it I am told that they are Asda '2' Steak & Onion Slices and that they contain no artificial colours, flavours or hydrogenated fat, there is an at a glance nutritional chart stated and I am told that they weigh 2 x 163g and there is a photograph of the slices on there too. Other information listed on the box includes ingredients and allergy advice being listed, I'm told how to store them (they are freezable by the way), there is a full nutritional chart given along with cooking instructions and contact details for Asda are given. Nice enough box which is informative enough of course and easy to open etc.

      The Slices:

Well they are rather thin looking uncooked and oblongish in shape looking slices with slashes to the tops of each one. To cook them all you do is heat them from frozen and in the oven for about 25-30 minutes and in that time I found them to cook very well indeed and give off a nice meaty aroma.

They puffed up slightly and the pastry went a golden colour and looked puffy and flaky. The pastry however was a little bit bland but not greasy and was puff so did flake slightly. The filling was mainly gravy but tasty enough and not too runny. Within that there was a very small amount of diced beef which was a little bit fatty but not chewy to be totally fair to it and a few slithers off well cooked onions but in the main flavour wise I felt this was really a beef slice in flavour.

Although these were ok they really weren't anything special at all and to be honest from the price tag what I expected. They are entirely edible but all in all a little bland and mainly pastry but at the least the whole lot wasn't entirely flavourless! Not bad, not great but worth a go at the moment at only 50p a box none the less!
