      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Pass!

I love foods that are snacky and that I can dip and play about with! This when I spotted it really appealed to me. With battered mushrooms, coated potato skins and battered onion rings all with a decent sized dip costing 2 quid I was unable to resist it!

      The Packaging:

Black plastic tray with a clear plastic covering that pulls off with ease. It has a purply coloured sleeve over that and on the front of that I'm told that they are Asda Tex Mex Combo 'Spicy battered potato wedges, whole button mushrooms in a golden crispy garlic coating and battered onion rings, served with a garlic mayonnaise and that it serves 2 people and the weight is stated which in this case is 400g and the best before date is clearly shown too. Other information on the back of the sleeve include ingredients and allergy advice, a full nutritional chart is shown as well as cooking instructions and storage advice and contact details for Asda are listed. Nice enough, informative packaging this is!

      The Tex Mex:

Well all you do is cook this up from chilled (how it is purchased) and then put the potato's and mushrooms in the oven for about 8 minutes and then add the onion rings and cook the lot for a further 10 minutes. Easy enough to do and in that time the whole lot cooks through well and your ready to serve along with the dip (which you serve cold).

      The Garlic Mushrooms:

I counted four of these in my pack. They were evenly enough coated with seasoned breadcrumbs but a little bit soggy to the touch. Small mushroom inside which was a bit shriveled up and soggy and the whole thing was rather flavourless, just a bit gooey really and I couldn't taste any garlic in these at all!

      The Onion Rings:

Again these were soggy and greasy to the touch although oven baked. Well coated in a soggy golden batter. You could taste the onion (even though it was soggy) though the sogginess was really off putting, they didn't taste seasoned and on the whole the six of these were boring and rather bland!

      The Potato Wedges:

The main of this combo consisted of the potato wedges. They cooked well in the time stated on the sleeve and these did has a lightly spicy coating on them. I could taste the garlic on these and they were a red colour due to being coated in paprika. As I say they tasted coated and like potato and these were the best part of the combo by far!

      The Garlic Mayonnaise:

Ok so I ate these the other night and only now whilst doing this review and looking at the sleeve for information to relay back to you do I know it is GARLIC mayonnaise and that revelation shocks me slightly. The mayonnaise was off white, rather runny and slightly sour and ok passes off as mayonnaise, even though it wasn't the best of quality.Though I tasted no garlic in it at all and it was nothing special! There was a decent amount of it though to be fair.

      Overall:

Boring and for £2.00 it is really economy tasting! I wasn't all that impressed with it at all, though the potatoes were ok. Big fat flop and thumbs down from me I'm afraid. I hate soggy and/or bland food!
