Advantages: Quick, cheap, tastes quite nice
Disadvantages: Probably not very healthy
Im not a food snob by any stretch of the imagination but like most people I do like food to taste good. I dont normally eat ready meals or microwavable food but the other day when coming home from work I was in a rush and found one of these iPasta and Sauces left in the cupboard by my brother.
Being in a rush this was a quick and easy meal to prepare, the instructions were very easy. You simply add milk, water and optional butter(i added this as I thought it would add more flavour) and heat over the hob for around 8minutes.
When heating it on the hob it seemed to take for ever for the pasta to cook and the sauce to thicken, but I think their time of 8 minutes is roughly correct. The sauce thickens more on standing too so dont worry if it seems very runny once cooked through.
I wasnt expecting much in terms of flavour or volume as it states that it is enough for one main meal or two as part of a meal, usually there is never enough for one, and being a pre prepared meal they dont usually taste that great. I was however, quite surprised on both counts. Firstly I couldnt eat all of it, meaning that yes it is definatly enough for a meal for one, and secondly it did taste nice. If i didnt know that the flavour was chicken and garlic then I wouldnt have guessed, however despite this the taste is nice and I would eat one again.
As far as ready meals go this really isnt that bad at all. Usually they are very bland and dont represent what you are eating, but this definatly looks like pasta and although doesnt taste like chicken and garlic, the taste is nice. They do make other flavours which I am yet to try, but after this one is I am in a rush again im sure I will try them.
When shopping the other day I saw these on offer at 4 for £2, which at 50p each I really dont think you can grumble. Their usual price of 75p is still good though. Im sure you could be a bit more adventerous and add bits to it such as peppers, tomatoes, chicken etc and make a meal for two and it would be a lot nicer.
Overall I was quite impressed with this and will be trying the others flavous in the future.
Summary: Good value for money and tastes ok too
