My husband and I have been attempting to reduce our weekly shop. As a result we have been trying lots of new foods including Batchelors Pasta and Sauce. There are loads of different flavours available and quite often they are on special offer in my local Tesco's.
I think that these packets of pasta are normally on sale for about 90p each but quite often they are on sale at 2 for £1. These packet pastas are really easy to mak, I do recommend that you always cook these on the hot as it turns out so much nicer thasn microwave cooking them. I also recommend adding lots more milk and water than the amount recommend on the packets and allow extra cooking time if you like your pasta soft.
Cooking this pasta on the hob I have np wen using nearly double the amount of milk and waster the packet recommends bad cooking time seems to be about 15 mins for the pasta to fully expand and be soft.
This pasta packet is not packed with flavour and it would make for a very bland and boring meal if you just have this. I normally add vegetables to these including broccoli and mushrooms. Adding extra veg obviously not only make it healthier but also tastier. My husband also likes loads of cheese put on top and some garlic bread on the side - clearly this is not such a healthy option.
Generally I like these packet pastas and I will continue to get them now bad then when they are on special offer. It is especially good that the used by date is normally about a year and so they last in cupboards for as good while.
After Christmas the boyfriend and i decided (well me really)that we were going to embark on a no spend from mid January to the end of February. We had loads of stuff left over from the Christmas shop plus we were both lucky enough to each receive a massive hamper. I tend to keep a big selection of these in the cupboard mainly bought when they are on offer a 50p and then never eaten.
Im sure most people are familiar with these but it comes in a packet you tear open with the name and picture on the front and how to cook/ingredients on the back.
This is supposed to serve one as a snack or two as part of a main meal. When i have it by myself its enough for dinner,i dont need anything else with it as it fills me up. Last time i made it with baked potatoes so it served two.
Taste-This doesn't have a very strong taste and you cant really taste the broccoli at all.It does have a mild cheese taste but its cheap tasting .
Cooking -this is really easy to make you just add the packet, 300ml (1/2 pint) water, 125ml milk, 15g (1/2oz) butter or margarine (this is optional but really tasty) to a pan. I don't normally add the butter as i think it tastes better without but if im making it to share i have to :/
The following is per 1/2 a packet:
Calories - 261 (13% RDA)
Sugars - 5.2g (6% RDA)
Fat - 3.6g (5% RDA)
Saturates - 1.8g (9% RDA)
Salt - 0.90g (15 % RDA)
Sometimes i do eat the whole packet but as a snack i would consider this to be very high. For example i try to stick to 20-30g sugar a day so having 10.4g is about 1/3 of my daily allowance.
**Would i recommend**
Its cheap, easy to make, can be bought from most supermarkets etc so yes. Just don't expect the taste to be amazing.
Got this half price for 50p when I was out on a mission as a student for cheap quick and easy food. This appealed to me straight away for the price, and also all you need to do is add milk and water, something I always have available to me.
All you need to do is add the set amount of water and milk into a pan with the mix, give it a stir every now and again and it is ready in 10 minutes. I fancied a change from my typical quick fix pot noodle, which only takes 3 minutes to cook and so was it work the extra wait?
Really, no. The cheese sauce was far too artificial tasting to my liking. I do love cheese but when it looks so artificially yellow and has such a processed flavour, I couldn't enjoy it. I have no invested in some plain flour so that I can make some myself. In the long run it will work out cheaper as these are 95p each full price.
There is barely any broccoli in the packet and makes very little impact on the flavour. Overall the only flavour there is is the artificial cheese flavour. I suppose I should have been expecting that since all you do is add milk and they are 50p each half price. Also you could add extra vegetables to the pan if you wanted to to make it a bit more nutritious and colourful.
It is a quick(ish) fix for lazy people like me who just want food for very little effort. However in the same amount of time I could have nearly made my own cheese sauce and pasta with a bit more effort. It wasn't too my personal taste so I do not recommend it and I will be avoiding this product from now on.
Thanks for pushing me to cook my own!
I love pasta and one thing I buy often in my local B & M store is these Bachelors Pasta 'N' Sauce' mixes as at 39p a pack they make great meal accompaniments for me and cheaply too. My favourite flavour at the moment and the one I buy the most often is this mild cheese and broccoli flavoured one!
This comes in a dark and light blue paper pack which is like a silver foil inside and on the front of it we are told that it is Bachelors Pasta 'N' Sauce Mild Cheese & Broccoli and that it can be cooked in the microwave in 8-10 minutes, there is an at a glance nutritional chart shown and a photograph of the pasta all made up. On the back of the pack other information listed includes cooking instructions (you can cook this on the hob as well as microwave it), the ingredients and allergy advice are given, there is a full nutritional chart shown, the weight is stated which is 123g (Dried weight) and contact details for the manufacturer are given. Nice easy to open pack this is.
Open up the pack and you are met with lots of dried cylinders of pasta in a light yellow with bits of dried green herby bits in it. All you do is mix water, butter and milk to it and then pop it in a saucepan for the hob or microwave it, I always microwave mine but either way to cook it takes about 10 minutes.
I absolutely love this. The pasta expands and isn't dry and the sauce thickens to a nice consistency. The pasta isn't chewy or soggy and the sauce is mild cheese in flavour and the broccoli flavour really comes through too. Its nicely seasoned as well and filling and I just find this perfect, easy to make and great quality all round.
With only 260 calories and 1.7g of saturated fat it isn't as bad for me as I first though before I ate it either which gets a massive thumbs up from me and my hips!
Available in all good supermarkets etc.
Quite often in the evening before I go the gym I don't have much time after work to prepare and cook a meal and I have to eat before the gym otherwise I feel sick due to the intense workout I have. After finishing work, I sometimes have as little as an hour to get ready for the gym and that includes eating something and letting it settle before going for a work out. I came across the Pasta'n'Sauce range in my local Co-Op store and loved the sound and look of the cheese and broccoli one so I decided to purchase a pack to see what it was like. Being pasta this would probably be reasonably filling and would give me some energy before going to the gym to keep me going throughout my session and after.

The Pasta'n'Sauce range is made by batchelors and comes in 5 different flavours including the cheese and broccoli flavour that I am reviewing. I don't normally go for pasta in sauce products, how-ever this sounded and looked like an easy thing to cook if I don't have much time or are in a rush to go out. The product comes in a blue coloured paper foil bag which has a picture of the cooked pasta in the sauce on the front. You can clearly see the flavour of this product on the front of the packet as well as this is mad every clear. On the back of the packaging you will find a list of ingredients, nutritional information and how to cook the product on the hob and in a microwave. I always prefer cooking products using an oven or hob rather than a microwave as I think the overall taste/results are much better. I have purchased this product a few times and love the taste of the pasta, so I thought it was about time I wrote a review about it.

You can purchase the packets of Pasta'n'Sauce from all good supermarkets and local shops. The average price for a packet of this will cost you approximately 95p, how-ever you can purchase them from Asda for just 50p which I think is a bargain. The Pasta'n'Sauce can be purchased in the following flavours:
Tomato, Onion & Herb
Chicken & Mushroom
Mild Cheese & Broccoli
Cheese, Leak & Ham

Cooking the Pasta'n'Sauce

You will need the following: 300ml (1/2 pin) water, 125ml (4 floz) milk, 15g (1/2oz) butter or margarine (this is optional but really tasty).
1. Place the water, milk and butter (if using in a saucepan and bring to the boil. I always add some butter to this to give it some extra taste/flavour. I don't normally measure the butter out as I do a lot of cooking so can pretty much estimate how much 15g is.
2. Stir in the pack contents. The packet rips open easily along the guideline which is shown on the packet. When looking in the foiled packet you can see the small tubes of pasta and the powdered sauce which smells really cheesy and delicious. The powder is a dark yellow colour and you can see bits of green in it which is of course the broccoli.
3. Boil gently, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until pasta is tender. I boiled the pasta for slightly longer than 10 minutes as I wanted to ensure that it was cooked properly. As the pasta cooks you can smell the cheese sauce which smells delicious.
4. Sauce will thicken on standing. The pasta and sauce will be very hot so I normally pour this into a bowl or onto a plate with a small side salad and wait for the sauce to thicken. The pasta smells delicious and smells more of cheese than anything else. The sauce was now a much lighter colour and looked really creamy. You could clearly see the small pieces of broccoli in the sauce as well.
= = = = = =
When I first tried this product I was surprised at how tasty it actually was. The sauce did thicken so the pasta had a lovely thick coating of cheesy sauce over the pasta. The pasta was cooked perfectly and wasn't soggy or overcooked. The pasta tubes are smaller than what you would normally buy which was nice as they got a lovely coating of sauce all over them. The sauce itself was really creamy and very cheesy. The sauce and pasta had a very smooth and soft texture to it. You could taste the broccoli in the sauce a little but it tasted more of cheese than anything else. I really enjoyed the pasta and it filled me up without making me feel too bloated. You do need to be very careful when eating this as it can be very hot, especially the sauce so you may want to wait a few minutes for it to cool down before serving it to other people, especially if you are serving it to children.
= = = = = = = = =
In terms of value I think the product is really good value, especially when purchasing it from Asda. This product is quite often on offer so it's always worth checking this out in your local supermarket. The taste of the pasta was just delicious and tasted much better than I expected. I expected the cheese taste to be really weak, but it tasted really creamy and delicious and really did taste of a cheese sauce I would make at home. I wouldn't eat this product all the time but it is very handy to have in the cupboard ready for a quick meal or snack. I often have the pasta on it's own but have sometimes cooked it to share with my boyfriend and have put salad on the side to go with it. The product also has a long use by date on it as the packet I purchased doesn't go out of date until August 2014, so it's great topping up on these when they are on offer to keep in the cupboard.

Batchelors have been creating products for over 100 years. The brand got its name from the person who created it; William Batchelor who was a former tea salesman in 1895. The brand first started when William began selling peas. He then went on to aid the breakthrough of canning technology, which lead to him being able to supply soup and vegetables to busy homes all through Britain. In a small amount of time, it became one of the most successful canning companies in the UK. In 1949 Batchelors developed dried soups; by 1972 these became known as Cup a Soup. Developments since have led to over 250 million mugs of the Cup a Soup are consumed each year in Britain and therefore making it the nation's favourite instant soup. Today they are more than just a cup a soup manufacturer, they are also well known for household favourites such as Mushy Peas, Super Noodles, Savoury Rice and Pasta 'n' sauce, with their most recent addition being Soupfulls. Batchelors do 3 different pasta 'n' sauces in this range they have mild cheese and broccoli, chicken and mushroom and tomato, herb and onion.
~~ The Product~~
Batchelors mild cheese and broccoli retails for approximately £1 per packet, I think this is a good price as these packets can be used as a side dish for 2 or a meal for 1. This pasta is ideal for people wanting a quick and tasty dish. The pasta can be made in 2 ways either by microwave or pan. I would recommend cooking this in a pan with milk, water and butter as it tastes much nicer than in the microwave.
The overall taste of the product is quite surprising the sauce tastes fresh rather than what you would expect from a packet sauce and the blend of cheese, broccoli and herbs work well to create a completely delicious pasta meal. The sauce is thick and creamy and the pasta is very nice also. If you make the pasta as advised on the packet then the distribution of sauce to pasta is spot on there is enough sauce to cover the pasta but not so your pasta is swimming in sauce.
This pasta is not one of the healthiest on the market but is definitely one of the tastiest, so as long as this is consumed in moderation as part of a healthy diet with exercise then there is absolutely no reason why you cannot enjoy this product. There are 360 calories in each packet which is not a considerable amount if you take into reasoning you could have this for a full meal or for two people as a side dish. There is also 4.6grams of fat per packet and there are a few E numbers and additives which would be my only downside to this product.
Overall, I would say this product is by far one of the best for what you are buying and would recommend to anyone who is a fan of pasta and convenience foods.

Pasta n sauce
So, it's day four of the slimming world diet and I'm doing well, eating good food and feeling. Positive. Until today I logging into their site which is for members only to help me with some idea's for recipes, because I work funny hours with my care assistant job. I was looking for foods which I could take to work and microwave or cook quickly in my break. I had already stocked up on noodles and these Pasta n sauce from Bachelors, but now I have found they are about 30 syns and cannot have them because of the fat and calories content. As I am only allowed up to 10 - 15 syns a day.
Anyway, apart from this bit of sad news I still would recommend them to you if your not on a diet and looking for something quick and very easy to make, as well as being delicious to eat.
Is made by bachelors which is a very well known brand, they have been around for years and are more well known for their soups.
This is pasta is dried and securely packed for your convenience, quick to make 8-10 minutes in a pan or even quicker if you have a microwave, as they then take 10 minutes, for a 650 watt microwave, 9 minutes if you have a 750w or 8 minutes if you have a 850w or over.
Just add 2.4 litres of water and microwave.
To cook on a hob.
Open the packet empty into your pan and add 425mls of water boil gently for about 8- 10 minutes leave for the sauce to thicken and then serve.
If you have any queries about this product you ring 0800 2227222 which is a free phone number. You get 128g of pasta n sauce for a good sized portion of yummy pasta.
This is the well known bachelors packaging the familiar dark blue packs with the red Bachelors logo on the front. It is a sealed square packet with the flavour locked in. Produced in the UK in kings Lynn.
These are easy to spot on the super market shelves.
There is a fork with the past n sauce shown on the front, the words Pasta n Sauce written above and below the picture, quite an appetising picture to attract your attention.
Especially if you're a bit hungry when you go in the supermarket, as you see it and think yes that's easy and quick to make.
Well, needless to say this is very good for a dried food product, it's easy to make and the sauce is nice and thick, you can taste the cheese, broccoli and the herbs . The sauce is spread evenly over the pasta whilst cooking and for a quick and easy snack this is nice and tasty. You can get other flavours too and they are just as good. The pasta isn't too spongy either, if you cook it for the right amount of time, checking the pasta with a fork every now and then as you stir it, you will be able to make it to the consistency of your taste. I like mine a little soft.
Now this is where you get the gist of what goes into your food, there is drum wheat, & egg which is the pasta. Then the flavourings are , salt, hydrogenated vegetable oil, flavour enhancers E621 and E635 Herbs Dried Garlic colour, citric acid, flavourings and milk powder.
Now I don't know about you but I like to read this information as I like to know what I'm eating, What I don't like is the E numbers or when it says flavourings, as these could be any artificial flavourings they choose to add.
So I think is would be better if they wrote what these flavourings actually were. Then you knew what you was eating, after all you could be allergic to them and not know you've eaten them until it's too later.
OTHER INFORMATION AND WHAT I THINK
The calorie content is quite high for this product and if your on a diet then one packet of this is going to punch a great big 470 calories out of your 1000 a day allowance.
Not only that the fat content is 2.7g and the carbohydrate content is 92.9g which means this is not all that good for if your dieting. On the other hand if your not then this is a good fast easy snack for you to make when your peckish.
If your on a budget it's quite reasonably prices as I bought this at the fantastic low price of 97p half price offer at Morrisons.
I think it's a good bargain, kids will love it and if you're a busy person then this would make a good meal for the kids at tea time.
At university, pasta was my staple diet and one of my favourites from back then was the Batchelors Pasta 'n' sauce mild cheese and broccoli. It was extremely quick and easy to make leaving more time to get ready to go to the pub and was actually quite tasty. Even though I have well and truly left my student days behind some things have remained and that is my fondness for this pasta. I still make it from time to time when I just need to make dinner for myself or I want something quick, easy and tasty.
According to their website, for more than 35 years, Batchelors has led the way in packaging and product innovation to hold the number-one position in the UK's Savoury Pasta market. Batchelors Pasta n Sauce is a delicious range of nine pasta dishes each with their own tasty sauces. Ready in 10 minutes, it's a no fuss dish that's high on taste.
This pasta is extremely easy to make. You can either cook it on the hob or microwave it. I cook it on the hob because I don't have a microwave but I actually think it turns out a little bit nicer. You melt some butter in a pan and then add the milk and pasta and dry pasta powder which all comes in the one packet. Bring it to the boil and then simmer for about 8-10 minutes. I find it's better to do it for just 8 minutes as after 10 some of the pasta will be sticking to the bottom of the pan. You need to keep stirring too to make sure the sauce gets all over the pasta and makes it go nice and soft. The pasta actually comes out really nicely and cooks well.
The pasta in this packet are the small tubes with ridges on them, I'm not sure what the traditional name for these it. Sometimes you will find that a bit of the undiluted powder will be hiding in these tubes so you get a punch of taste but it doesn't happen all the time. The sauce is lovely and creamy and cheesy and there are real chunks of broccoli in it which I think is great.
You can eat a packet of this as a main meal and I have to say it's probably enough for just one or it will serve two or three if you serve it with other things like meat. Per half a packet there are 222 calories so if you eat the whole packet there are 444 calories which I don't think is too bad for a main meal although I like to add some grated cheese to the top which I'm sure ups the calorie count.
Each packet costs just £0.95 and is a perfect thing to keep in the cupboard as an emergency meal.
I have been getting this Batchelors Pasta 'n' sauce (mild cheese & broccoli) for about 2 years now. My daughter loves it and I always make sure I have a at least a couple of packets at home for her, as she gets times (llike we all do!) when she really fancies eating this pasta meal.
I also eat this pasta occassionally and I think its well worth the cost. You can sometimes find it on special offer. At the moment its on offer at Asda at only £2.00 for 4 x 123g packets. The usual price per packet is £0.95 pence; so this is a super offer. I will need to stock up on these whilst they are so low in price!
Batchelors describe this pasta dish as 'Pasta tubes in a delicious mild cheese with broccoli peices, onion and toasted garlic'
To be honest, i can't seem to taste any garlic flavour at all when i have eaten this pasta.
There are full instructions on the back of the packet and the pasta can be weither cooked on the hob or cooked in the microwave. I always cook this on the hob and this is how I myself make it.;
As the instructions say... i put 1/2 pint of semi skimmed milk and 4 floz of water inot a saucepan. I then add a large nob of butter (Batchelors recommend adding 15g). Really i would suggest this depends on how sort of buttery you want the pasta to turn out re flavour.
Batchelors recommend you then bring this to the boil and stir in the contents of the packet. I also do this, but because milk is added and I have an electric cooker; i always have to take the pan off of the hob whilst the hotplate is lowering its temperature; as you will then need to turn the heat down. I have sometimes returned to the kitchen to find the pasta has bolied over because of the milk that is added! This is very annoying.. so i really recommend that if you are using electric in particular you remove the pan from the heat, until the temperature has lowered. I also recommed you remain in the kicthen whilst the pasta is first starting to boil, otherwise whether you use gas or electric... if it boils, and you are not in the kitchen, it will boil over.
Batchelors recommend you continue to heat the pasta on a gentle boil for about 10 minutes. I usually find that it actually takes about 12 minutes to cook to how both my daughter and myself like it (which is slightly al dente). If the pasta is undercooked/if you cook it for too short a period it wil just be too hard and not nice to eat. I also disovered that it is essential to keep stirring it If you do not stir the pasta frequently, it will stick to the bottom of the pan and might burn! ( I have also experienced this!)
There are full instructions for microwaving the product on the packet; however, I just prefer to cook it on the hob, so i cannot say how the pasta turns out when cooked in a microwave.
For my daughter, half of the packet is enough; she just enjoys eating this on its own, but with some cheese sprinkled on the top/mixed in. As this partcular pasta is mild cheese flavour both my daughter and myself find that the flavour is too mild without some added cheese, so we sprinkle on some medium strength cheddar cheese. However, each to their own and some people may prefer the milder taste.
When i eat this pasta, i will also usually only have half a packet and I too prefer to eat it on its own. However, i think it would probably go quite well with some meats and also bacon/sausages.
There is plenty of pasta once cooked and the sauce comes out nice and thick. There is quite alot of small broccoli peices in the meal, although sometimes you get little stalks of broccoli rather than actual broccoli which i am not all that keen on!
Pasta tubes (78%)(Duram wheat semolina)
Cheese powder (6.5%)
Dried Broccoli (1.5%)
Flavour enhancers (monosodium glutomate), sodium 5- ribonucleotides
Lactose (from milk)
Product contains wheat, barley, gluten & milk
For half a packet of this pasta in sauce there are 227 kcals
This is a good little pasta dish, well worth trying if you have never had it before.
If I had to name my favourite food, it would probably be pasta. I love the stuff, and everytime I go to a restaurant, I will always order a pasta dish providing that it is vegetarian. I like any kind of pasta, from simple meals such as pasta with cheese to more 'complicated' pasta dishes in restaurants. So when I happened to come across this type of pasta in the supermarket, I just had to try it.
First of all, Pasta n Sauce is a range of...well, pasta and sauces made by Batchelors. There are a few flavours to choose from including this one and cheese and ham as well as a few others. Each packet costs around £1 which I think is great value for money.
The pasta is very easy to make; just follow the simple instructions on the packet. All you need is milk, water and butter which means that it is a very cheap meal to make.
To look at the pasta looks delcious. It's a light brown colour and looks very appetising. The smell is also delicious, consisting of a slight garlic-y smell. It is just a hint of garlic, and although the dish is quite strong, it's more of a 'creamy strong' rather than a 'garlic-y strong'.
There are small pieces of brocolli in this which are tasty and you would not think that they have come from a 'dried packet'. The small pieces of brocolli also have a nice texture and are not 'hard' and 'wood' tasting, like other 'dried' foods containing vegetables. You could also try adding your own vegetables to the dish, for example brocolli, to get more of a 'brocolli' taste.
The pasta is has a lovely texture, which is very soft. The pasta comes in the form of 'small' tubes. I like the fact that they are small because it means that they are easier to eat, and there isn't too much of a risk of getting it on your top.
I like this pasta as it is very filling. So if you are really hungry then this will definately satisfy your appetite as it really does fill you up.
Another great thing about this pasta if you are really hungry is the fact that it takes very little time to make.
One thing which I like about this pasta is the fact that it is quite versatile in the terms that you can have it with absolutely anything. One of my favourite ways to have this pasta is with a portion of chips or new potatoes, or with a slice of bread and butter. You can could also have it on toast, something which I am yet to try, yet can imagine would be delicious. You can also have it on its own.
This pasta is very cheap to make and makes a perfect meal, especially if you are due to go food shopping, as to make it you only need basic ingredients; milk, butter and water, to make it, which means that it is very affordable for everyone to make.
The pasta however does contain some additives and so I would definately not eat it on a regular basis, but as more of a treat, as it is quite artificial. It does however make a great snack. It can serve one person as a snack, or two to three people as part of a main meal, and so it is very cost effective.
If you like pasta, then I would definately recommend this to you!
Thanks for reading!

Whilst I mostly prefer to try and cook a healthy meal from scratch, sometimes I just can't be bothered with the hassle and prefer something a little easier. Of course, with a daughter who is a fussy eater, nothing is ever THAT easy, but she does like pasta, so we've started keeping Pasta N Sauce mixes in the cupboards , and one of our favourites is the Mild Cheese and Broccoli flavour, which, like all the others, comes in a dark blue packet with the Bachelors logo in big letters.
Essentially, its a pack of dried pasta and a sauce powder, to which you simply add milk, water, and an optional knob of butter. You then have two options for cooking - either on the hob for 10minutes, or in the microwave for 8 minutes plus additional 5 minutes standing time for the sauce to thicken . Since I don't own a working microwave (and even if I did, it doesn't cut down on the cooking time really) I opted for the hob option, stirring constantly until the sauce was thickened and the pasta was soft to eat .
The pack claims that this will serve one person as a snack, or 2-3 as part of a meal. My daughter and I usually split a pack and serve it with some garlic bread. The pasta is pretty tasty, the cheese sauce is creamy and rich, and whilst it does taste a little bit artificial, it's not at all bad, flavoured with a little onion and garlic. The broccoli is really pretty small - and I personally would prefer bigger chunks for more texture. However, my daughter claims to hate broccoli, but had no problem eating this once I fibbed to her and told her the green bits were herbs . The pasta pieces are perhaps a tad smaller than those I would usually use, but cooked well, and overall this was a nice convenient meal with minimal fuss and minimal effort.
I have also made up this pasta then eaten it cold as a pasta salad - and actually liked it even more that way ,perhaps having been sat in the fridge enhanced the flavour . These are available in most supermarkets for around 80p, and can sometimes be found on multi buy offers .
Unfortunately I haven't kept the packaging back, so can't give any nutritional information in this review .
Overall, a handy and convenient item to have in the cupboard and whip out when you can't be bothered cooking .
4 stars .
I like to keep at least one of these packets in my cupboard, they make a quick and easy snack or addition to a meal.
Batchelors pasta n sauce is a packet of dried pasta with a flavour, you simply have to add some milk, water and butter and either cook in a saucepan on the hob or in a 4 1/2 pint bowl in a microwave.
It takes approx 10 minutes to cook on the hob or 8-9 minutes in the microwave with an additional 5 minutes waiting time for the sauce to thicken.
The packet claims to serve 1 person as a tasty snack or 2-3 people as part of a main meal.
Batchelors pasta and sauce comes in several flavours including tomato and herb, mild cheese and broccoli, carbonara and my favourite chicken and mushroom.
The packet is royal blue in colour, with Batchelors written across the top in red, below that it says Pasta 'n' Sauce and below that it tells you the flavour, the lower part of the packet shows serving suggestion, it resemble the pasta and sauce in a bowl once cooked.
I like to add extra vegetables to mine, 1/2 a packet of fresh spinach is nice stired through and allowed to wilt, also some sweetcorn or some cooked broccoli, to bulk it out and make it into a main meal I like to add some cooked chicken.
A packet of Batchelors Pasta n sauce costs around 82p in most super markets, but at the moment they are on special in Asda 5 packets for £2, I couldn't beleive this deal and had to get the girl on the checkout to double check it for me.
I should point out there is some allergy advice on the back of the packet, this product contains wheat, barley, gluten and milk.
Batchelor's Pasta 'n' Sauces are quickly becoming one of my favourite meals, I usually like to make my pasta dishes from scratch however with this product you really don't need to as its perfect.
** The Product **
Past tubes in a delicious mild cheese sauce with broccoli pieces, onion and toasted garlic.
** The Packaging **
The packet is blue, on the front there is a picture of the cooked product and some fresh ingredients , which is used to make the product, the logo and flavour. I like the fact that the picture actually looks like the product when cooked as some products can make this misleading. The back contains all the useful information such as ingredients, Batchelors tip, nutritional information etc. Overall the packaging is very appealing.
** The Taste **
This product is truly delicious, the pasta is soft and the sauce is creamy, although the product contains onions and garlic, I personally cannot taste them, however you get a good amount of broccoli and it goes very well with the sauce. It leaves a lovely aftertaste and is incredibly filling.
** Cooking Instructions **
This product is so simple to make, you simply add the contents to ½ a pint of water, 125ml of milk and an optional dollop of butter. Boil gently, for best results stir continuously, the sauce will thicken after about 10 minutes, the product is then ready to be served. I always like to add a little bit of pepper but it tastes great just as it comes.

** Availability and Price **
The product is sold in all major supermarkets, and in most of the smaller food shops too. The product costs approximately 80p per pack, however I picked it up in Morrisons on a 2 for £1.00 offer, these offers are on quite a lot in most of the supermarkets.
** Overall Opinion **
I really like this product, I think its great on its own or as a side. It goes well with just about anything and is something that the whole family can enjoy. My son is extremely fussy when it comes to pasta n sauce, yet he loves this Batchelor's range. I think the product provides excellent value for money and saves you so much time and effort.
I would definitely give this product 5/5
