Advantages: Cheap, easy to cook, great tasting

Disadvantages: Not the greatest nutritionally

I have been addicted to these things for a few years now. For me Birds Eye is synonymous with good quality frozen foods at an affordable price and these are no exception.
These are made up of 100% chicken breast and you can really taste the tender quality in each succulent portion. No rubbery taste, or nestle bits of gristle to be found in these portions. The coating is lovely thick breadcrumbs with a delicious southern fried spicy taste. Admittedly the spice is not as prominent or flavoursome as you might find in your local KFC, but for a frozen meal, it definitely gets the 2 thumbs up from me

The box is a standard affair with the Birds Eye logo fairly prominent, the nutritional information, the Birds Eye commitment to quality logo and also a picture of the chicken portions when cooked. One thing I do like is that the picture is not misleading, as the cooked article does look exactly like it shows on the box, which is refreshing.

Each box contains 2 portions and they are to be stored in the freezer. To cook, simply pop them in the oven for 22-25 minutes at 220 degrees. I always keep a couple in the freezer as they are perfect for a quick and easy meal with no preparation time.

Each portion contains 240 calories and 14g of fat. This is higher than the other types of chicken in the Birds Eye range but for me it is a trade off between the nicest flavour and a little worse for you on the nutrition side of things. You can also get plain chicken, crispy chicken and also spicy chicken. Having tried them all, these are by far my favourites.

The 2 pack costs around £1.69. However, they are often on promotion in my local Asda for just £1 which is an absolute steal! They are also available for £1 at Sainsbury's, but hurry as this deal is only valid for the next 10 days.

Pop two of these in the oven and then when they are nearly ready, toast 2 pitta breads. When the pittas are ready, slice them lengthways so you can slide the chicken portions inside them (1 in each). Then chuck on some shredded iceberg lettuce and some good old tomato ketchup. If you like, you can also add a cheese slice as it will melt deliciously around the hot chicken.

Alternatively, you can use a French loaf and cut the chicken up into strips...again this is lovely with some cheese and lettuce.

Also lovely with chips and beans!

Summary: For a great tasting, easy to make meal, bung a pair of these in the oven!
