Advantages: Tasty, crunchy chicken!
Disadvantages: None at all!
When it comes to Southern fried chicken it's a big favourite of mine. I love it as a quick meal with chips now and again and so the other week when my boyfriend said he was coming to stay for a few days I went out and grabbed a box of this for him. Soon as he spotted me grabbing it from the freezer and about to cook it though he almost had a fit! He only likes very plain food and this for him was far too fancy so I ended up with a box all to myself! Never mind though eh! lol.
The Packaging:
Yellow box with a photograph of one of the chicken coated chicken breasts on the front and I am told that they are Birds Eye '2' Southern Fried Chicken and that they are made with 100% chicken breast and are 'Deliciously tasty every time' and that they contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and that Birds Eye have a commitment to quality and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. Other information given on the box includes being told a bit about the product, ingredients and allergy advice is given as well as a full nutritional rundown chart, I'm told how to prepare them and contact details for Birds Eye are given. It's a nice bright and informative box with the information listed neatly on it and it's all very easy to understand.
The Chicken Breasts:
Well open the box and you get two frozen (that's the way they should be purchased!) reasonably large and thick coated chicken breasts. To cook them you can simply pop them in the oven for 25 minutes or under a medium grill for 20 minutes. I personally always pop mine in the oven as I'm lazy and don't mind turning them once but not a few times lol.
When cooked they have a lovely thickish coating that is golden with specs of brown all evenly coated over them and a slightly spicy yet somewhat golden smell.
Not one bit greasy that coating goes slightly hard in texture which is wonderful against the soft and moist chicken inside. The coating is made of course from breadcrumbs and is well seasoned and with a hint of garlic, paprika and turmeric and is tangy and tasty but not in too much of a rich way. The chicken as I have previously mentioned is moist though not soggy and really does taste of chicken which of course it should well do considering it is 100% chicken breast after-all!
Verdict:
An excellent quality product yet again from Birds Eye. I like the way that this is packed with flavour but not one bit greasy and for me these come out king of the crop and cannot be beaten...so far in my quest lol.
