takeaway pizza for half the price

I recently saw this pizza on offer in my local Tesco store and thought I would give it a go. The pizza was £2.50 and could be bought in the following flavors:- Four cheese, pepperoni, chicken. When I tried the pizza I found it lovely, it looked like a takeaway pizza and tasted almost as good. I think that this range of pizza do represent good value for money. You will not need to buy one per person of this pizza there is easily enough for two people from one pizza. I have tried the four cheese one which in some frozen pizzas can be a bit greasy but I thought it was delicious. The fact that the crust is stuffed is the best but about the pizza in my opinion it just makes it even more delicious. There is loads of tomato filling in it. The pizza itself is lovely there is quite a lot of tomato base on it so its not at all dry, also the crust goes really crispy which makes it even more delicious. The pizzas are not very healthy but not too bad as a treat when I ate half of the cheese pizza it was 796 calories. I found the pizza easy to cook you simply remove it from the freezer and you are able to cook it straight from frozen you just take it out of the takeaway box and remove the film covering and then just put it into the oven on the tray it is on which was good as sometimes if you just put it on the oven tray when you come to take it out it ends up going everywhere. By cooking it on the tray it is on means you can also cut it up into slices on the same tray and then just slide the slices onto a plate. It took approximately 30mins to cook in an electric oven which isn't too bad. I would definitely recommend this pizza as a treat and a good alternative to a takeaway at half the price!

      Cheesy Chicago!

I am going through a bit of a stage of being addicted to Pizza's at the moment and Chicago Town Cheese Deep Pan Pizzas are one of my favourites. Packaging These pizzas come in a normal cardboard box which is primarily red with a picture of the pizza on the front (which looks very appealing). The Chicago Town logo is written across the front and underneath that is written Deep Dish Triple Cheese Pizza. Price I buy these pizza from Tesco where they normally cost £1.65 for a box of two. At the moment they are on a special offer for only £1 per box which is excellent - my freezer is now full of them! The Pizza The thing I like about these pizza's, is that they are mini size so could make do as a snack - although admittedly, I do tend to eat both of them at the same time because I'm a pig! The pizzas are probably about 5 inches across (at a guess) and each packet contains two mini pizzas. How To Cook. These pizzas can actually be cooked in two different ways. Personally I prefer to cook them in the oven as I think it makes the bases nice and crispy and it just tastes better overall in my opinion. To cook in the oven, unwrap the pizza and place directly onto the oven shelf in a preheated oven (temp 190c) for 20 - 22 minutes. You can also cook these in the microwave which is much quicker than cooking in the oven - they only take 3 minutes in a 850w microwave but as I already mentioned, the pizza doesn't taste half as nice when you cook it this way. Smell This pizza smells so nice while it is cooking. The 20 minutes cooking time seems like a life time when you are hungry and the smell certainly makes you want to eat the pizza there and then. Taste This pizza is different to other pizzas as it actually has quite a thick base, almost like a pie in the fact that the pizza topping is almost encased in lovely pastry. Normally I am not a fan of thick bases but this one if yummy as when you cook the pizza in the oven, the base crisps up really well. The tomato sauce on the pizza is quite thick compared to other pizzas I have tasted and it certainly tastes very yummy with it. Then, to top it all off (literally) the pizza is covered in a thick layer of three cheeses. With some pizzas I have bought in the past, they tend to scrimp with the cheese and its more tomato than anything but this pizza is very generous with the cheese which I appreciate as the cheese if my favourite bit.Nutritional Information. - suitable for vegetarians - no artificial flavours - there are no artificial colours - no hydrogenated fats - contains milk and gluten - there are three cheese used in the pizza - Mozzarella, Edam and Emmental etc Per pizza you will get: - Calories 454kcal - Protein 21.8g - Carbohydrates 49.1g - Fat 18.9g - Fat (saturates) 10.4g - Fibre 3g - Salt 1.8g So as you can see, these pizzas are very fattening, especially considering that they are mini pizzas and each one contains 454 calories! Summary I would definitely recommend these pizzas. I think that they are slightly different from other pizzas on the market as they have a similar design to a pie, but all the taste of a pizza. The pizza is piled high with cheese (probably where all the calories come from) and the tomato sauce is very rich and tasty. These pizza wouldn't be any good for anyone on a diet as they are full of calories. To top it all off they are reasonably priced.

      Highly Recommended

Chicago Town Four Cheese Twin Pack Pizzas are absolutely gorgeous little bites of food in a hurry. They're a bit expensive at just under £2 for a box of two small, individual pizzas, but I do think they've got things going for them which justify the price tag easily. These pizzas come individually wrapped inside their outer packaging. They're mounted on little silver plates which help them to cook on both sides in the microwave. These are one of the only microwave foods that I will eat, and actually enjoy. It seemed ludicrous to me when I first gave them a go that they would taste nice after three and a half minutes in the microwave - but they really did, and have done every time I've had them since. What you get with these is slightly on the doughy side, as obviously microwaving pizza isn't going to result in a crisp crust or anything like that. But then I'm a fan of deep pan pizza rather than Italian bases anyway, so for me this is actually a plus side. The tomato sauce is rich, sweet and tasty and it cooks well in the microwave. The cheese on top is plentiful, tasty and it melts evenly all over the pizza. I can't say that I can truly taste four different cheeses here, but it definitely goes that flavour or two beyond standard chedddar or mozzerella. These aren't a substitute for a proper over cooked pizza, but for food that goes from freezer to plate in less than five minutes, you really can't grumble. They're quick, convenient, tasty and reasonable priced. I especially love getting in a packet of these when they're on offer in Tesco for £1 a pack, which they frequently are. The only thing to beware of is that the pizzas are really very small, and you may well find yourself wanting to eat two at a time.

Overall a disappointing Pizza that I was really looking forward to :(

I am a real pizza lover and when I saw the Chicago Town Pizza on offer I decided to snap it up. The Pizza and the Price: The pizza I tried was the Sauce stuffed crust with Four Cheeses which are Mozarella, /monterey Jack, Mature Cheddar and Emmental. This was frozen and on special at 2 pizzas for £6.00 The claim from this brand is as follows: Topped with 4 delicious cheeses and a tomato sauce stuffed crust, you'll get the great taste and quality of a freshly baked takeaway pizza straight from your oven. Voted tastier than Dominoes and Pizza Hut, Chicago Town Takeaway has a unique fresh dough base, which is never pre baked before it's frozen. And now Chicago Town Takeway comes with it's own oven ready pan- so no mess, no fuss just TUCK IN! Cooking: So I'm all excited after reading the box and read the instructions for cooking- it states that you have to cook this from frozen in a cold oven for 25-30 mins on Gas Mark 5/190c/375f. After opening the packet I see that the pan that they refer to is like a holder that your pizza sits on and I assume so you can literally just bung it in the oven with as they state no mess. Ok so in it goes and I get a bit of salad ready (always makes me feel like I am eating healthy!) Although having read the back of this and see that the kj are 1674 per 1/4 pizza...well I plan on eating the whole lot so that's the diet over!! The remainder nutritional information is for bad reading: Per 100g (and the pizza weighs 630g) Kcal 271 Fat 10.3g Salt 1.5g Ok so the pizza is ready and it smells divine and I am astonished by just how lovely it looks as I leave it to stand for 2 minutes before I start slicing. The taste: Well I have to say I was really disappointed. The first bite it tasted really fresh very cheesy and the crusty bit with the tomato sauce added the extra kick it needed. However, 3 mouthfuls later I felt a bit overwhelmed by this mammoth pizza. Now my sister and I could quite easily eat a huge amount of pizza so I was surprised I was struggling so quickly. I then realised it was all a bit too much. The cheese was really sickly and too thick on top and the tomato sauce base I couldnt taste at all. I am not really a huge crust fan (unless its Pizza Hut Cheese stuffed crust) but the tomato sauce was too much like tomato puree rather than a fresh tomato sauce. The base although nice at first I know this will sound strange but tasted too fresh. Maybe I mean too doughy. You know when you bake bread and its light and lovely but then you get to the centre and its not cooked quite right and is almost stuck together with no air. Thats the best way I can describe it. Dont get me wrong I was hungry and had nothing else in and I did manage to eat the whole thing, which I later regretted. The flavour repeated on me all evening and it wasnt pleasant at all. Overall: This is an expensive pizza which lacks the quality and superior taste of other pizza's. I feel I have wasted £6 on 2 pizzas that I wish I hadn't but you do have to try things out and people's tastes are different. I personally feel that its unbelievable that this Pizza outweighed the other 2 mentioned as I have tried all 3 and would mark this with the lowest scores. This brand of Chicagos pizza is not one I would recommend to you and would say stick to what you like but this not one for me...

Chicago Town- I expected better! After having two of these for my dinner (after I had walked three miles!) I was very disappointed. I usually jump at the opportunity to eat pizza but not with these... Packaging The pack with two individual pizzas wrapped up in plastic comes in a large cardboard box. They weigh 160g a piece. The box follows a black theme with a large image of a good looking pizza. On the back there is some nutritional information and some other useful information. The Chicago town logo above is also included on the left hand side of the box. Taste As these come in four cheese flavour- mozzarella, mature cheddar, Monterey jack and emmental the cheese is actually quite tasty. I would have liked this if there was more tomato puree/sauce. When I cooked this in the microwave the crust went so hard I could not even cut it with a knife and it was dripping with grease. The cheese was soft in texture but the base and crust were very hard and difficult to chew. Price and Place These are usually sold for around £2.00 in supermarkets and convenience stores which is way to expensive compared with the quality. Usually these pizza's have a very good reputation but these are a let down. Nutritional Info per pizza 432 kcal 48.2g carbohydrates 18.8g fat! These are very unhealthy and I have just realised how bad they are!!! Pro's Take three mins in microwave/ twenty in the oven Stay frozen so do not clutter fridge Con's Greasy Hard texture Not enough tomato Too much cheese Too expensive I rate these 2/5- Poor.

Plenty more pizza's in the freezer

Takeaway, more like take it away!!! I was wholly disappointed with this so called better than Dominos, and better than Pizza Hut pizza. It had the look of a supermarkets own brand, value, cheese and tomato pizza and tasted worse than one. At the time of writing this review Chicago Town claimed to offer a full refund to any consumer who felt this product was inferior to their competitors mentioned above. I am certainly one such consumer and cannot wait for my £2.58 to be returned to me so I can go out and buy 5 Aldi best in the world, finest, people's choice, cheesy pizzas!!!! While writing this review I've been thinking of the grand gesture I can offer this product to help you the reader form a structured and balanced opinion, but I can't, instead it's just made me think just how much this product is a con, it's like comparing Luton Town to Liverpool in terms of quality!!!! I'd avoid it and if you do want a take away pizza and can't afford a Dominos or Pizza Hut don't buy this just pop down to your local kebab house and buy one of their pizzas it would probably be better and only cost £2.00 saving you a well earned 58p!!!!

Great fresh taste but a fantastic price

Having tried the microwave Chicago Town pizzas I thought I would treat myself and try this one. It's another fantastic offering from Chicago Town and it's part of their Personal Takeaway range, which is a range of, as the name suggests, small takeaways, the pizza here is small enough so as you won't waste any of it, at about 8 inchs it's a perfect size for small eaters and although I don't eat much, when I get a pizza I like it to be 10 or 12 inches. Never the less this was a perfect size pizza that night. The pizza flavour is Four Cheeses, with four delicious different cheese toppings which are Mozzarella Cheese (11%), Mature Cheddar Cheese (4%), Monterey Jack Cheese (4%) and Emmental Cheese (3%). Then you have the delicious suculant pizza sauce and fresh dough base which is never pre-baked before it's frozen this means that when you take it out of your freezer and cook it, you get the fresh takeaway taste still. Last year I think it was, they did an independant test where they blind folded people and they tasted pizzas from Chicago Town, Domino's and Pizza Hut, the three leading brands and out of 179 people surveyed, a massive 91 (more than half) preferred Chicago Town Takeaway range over Pizza Hut & Domino's. Personally I love Pizza Hut but Chicago Town Takeaway range is one of my top two. Great for a night in front of the tele or a DVD or for having friends over for a drink and a catch up. It's not very expensive either, at the leading supermarkets right now it's available for under £2 a Pizza Hut or Domino's takeaway would cost 8 times that.

          Take it away

Having looked in the cupboard and deciding that Old Mother Hubbard had a better stocked cupboard then I did last night it was time for last resort pizza for tea, OK the freezer was just as empty at the cupboard. Popping into my local shop I spotted that they had a new item in the freezer that they don't normally sell and decided to give it a try. 1 Chicago Town takeaway personal pizza, four cheese to go. According to the packaging this pizza has "All the great taste of a takeaway pizza" but will it I wonder as I pop it into the oven for the recommended time, though some may be interested to know that no pre-heating is apparently required prior to cooking. Twenty minutes later off to the oven to see whether the pizza is cooked and does it really look like the picture on the box? I could actually smell the pizza aroma starting to waft through the house and as expected was pleasant smell and did not put me off at all. Now for the big test - look, opening the oven I can see that crust has risen to twice the height of the base as promised on the back of the packaging and the picture, looking good so far, the cheese has melted evenly and no big gaps exposing the tomato base can be seen and the crust also has a nice golden colour, time to remove from the oven. The packaging advises that you leave the pizza to stand prior to cutting and this I would recommend not just with this brand but with others also as if you cut a pizza straight away you often end up with the cheese topping sliding off the tomato base. Pizza ready to be served, I actually share mine with somebody else with some salad which did reduce the impact of all that saturated fat and the high calorie value - a whopping 739 per pizza and note that the personal pizza is only appox 7 inches in diameter so not a large one. The taste test - did this live up to the description - well in a word no. I found the base to be very bland and tasteless though the texture was OK, however, for me the crust was disappointing, I prefer my crust a bit crispy and this was certainly not, if fact if it was a lettuce I would describe it as limp. There was plenty of cheese in the topping and not too strong a flavour but the whole pizza was completely overpowered by the tomato sauce used. There was far too much sauce which made the overall effect very wet and the flavour was extremely strong and does left and aftertaste in your mouth. My daughter actually scraped off the topping completely and just ate some of the crust due to the overpowering tomato flavour. The Chicago Town takaway pizza personal also comes with pepperoni topping or the four cheese and pepperoni versions with a tomato stuffed crust, Overall this is not a pizza I would buy again even when there is nothing left in the cupboard or freezer. Personally I prefer to make my own pizza as its not hard to do at all and this way I am in control of the flavour and what is added and making the dough can be very therapeutic. For those who like their pizza this is one to avoid

            Cannot miss with this pizza

Chicago Town have done it again with this four cheese pizza from their takeaway personal range. As it suggests this is an individual pizza which is approximately eight inches across give or take an inch and has a succulent topping of tomatoe based four cheeses. Which are Monterey Jack, mozerrella, red cheddar and mature cheddar. These four cheeses work very well together giving a mild pizza but a very tasty one. Simply place in a cold oven and heat through on 190degrees c or 375degrees f or gas mark 5 for 20 minutes and hey presto as soon as the cheese starts to bubble you have a very tasty cheesy pizza. I love these and with a few chips or potato waffles and peas they make a lovely teatime treat. I have found these in our local freezer shop at £1 each and the larger ones at around £2 -3. A big hit with all the family. Be careful though when you take it out of the oven as the cheese gets very hot and can burn your mouth if eaten straight away. Other types so far found are Peperoni and Inferno.
