      Delish In Cakes!

Fresh raspberries are mega expensive at the minute and they're getting even more expensive every time I buy them. Another thing is they come in packs of 200g or 250g but I needed 400g for a recipe I was doing and that would have worked out at about a fiver just for raspberries! lol It would have been cheaper to buy some puddings and not bother cooking myself! lol

I thought I'd get these Country Store frozen raspberries, a 300g bag is only £1.29 and it didn't matter than I needed to get 2 bags because what I didn't use could go back into the freezer for next time. I checked on the bag and it said they could be used for cooking, baking and eating on their own.

They don't look that bad, the raspberries are obviously frozen so they don't look exactly the same as fresh ones but they've got a nice bright red colour and actually look pretty nice. I let them thaw out first and then used them to put in the cakes, they had to go in to the mix before the cakes went into the oven and I didn't notice a difference between these cakes and when I've made them using fresh strawberries.

I had a couple that had thawed out and just munched them like fresh ones and they was a bit too squishy to make me think they were fresh. They have got a nice flavour and that surprised me a bit because I wasn't expecting them to be tasty, if you LOVE fresh raspberries though you might be a bit gutted but then you probably won't be eating these if you're a raspberry purist! lol

I reckon for cooking these are fine though, they are loads cheaper than fresh raspberries and are ok for making cakes and stuff. I don't know if they'd be any good for stuff like cheesecakes and trifles though but when you're having raspberries in cakes and biscuits and they need cooking they're fine.

Recommended..... dead cheap and taste yummy!!!
