Dr Oetker's Ristorante Pizza
Advantages: delicious, lots of nice toppings and cheap
Disadvantages: not like a takeaway
I regularly order pizza's, not from Domino's or pizza hut though, I don't like their pizzas but from my local Pars pizza as they're the nicest pizza's ever and made by an actual italian so I've mainly dubbed any pizza's other than Par's but that usually costs around £20 with all the side bits as obviously you need to go over the £10 limit to get a pizza delivered.
But I was a bit short on cash and decided to look in Tesco's for a substitute and from what I read the Ristorante pizza's are quite nice and have a 5 star rating at the time of writing! So I got over my frozen pizza fear and picked up a Ristorante pizza Vegtable Piccante which looked quite appealing on the picture, there was also one I was contemplating on buying one with tons of mushrooms on as I love mushrooms and hate meat but though that seemed a bit boring. (maybe next time) I noticed they were extremely cheap priced at £2.25 in my local Tesco's thats a whopping saving right there. There was also a 2 for £4 deal which is seriously a good deal!
The vegtable piccate pizza has grilled peppers, pickled jalapenos and onions on. it's made with 14% mozerella edam cheese and 26% tomato puree so I was worried the pizza was going to just taste really tomato.. I'm not a big fan of tomato or cheese but I do love a nice pizza.. weird I know.
The great thing about this pizza is that it's just so simple to shove in the oven from the freezer and it only takes 9-11 minutes.
After cooking the pizza I was pleasantly suprised that they were generous with the toppings and the pizza was flooding with them which is rare for a pizza as usually you just get a few tiny bits but the toppings were divine. I was suprised at how small the pizza was as I was sharing it between 2 and it was the equivelent of 10inch and I managed to cut for big slices out so that was basically 2 slices each so either get 2 if you are sharing or serve it with some salad or chips or something and it will make a quick tasty meal.
The base is really thin which didn't look promising as I love big thick tasty pizza's but it was ultra thin and really crispy but not too cardboardish but it just brought out the taste in the toppings more. It wasn't really cheesy and there were a few gaps and it was more tomatoey but still enough cheese for me and lovely. The pizza claims to be extra spicey but I found it to be just right and the pizza tasted almost as nice as other pizza places like domino's etc but not quite as nice as my local pizza place!
It's packaged in a big cardboard box that is recycable with a picture of the pizza... the photos look really appealing and when I cooked it it looked just like the photo so it's very accurate.. the box has like an italian effect and is very sleek and cool.
The pizza is not the most fattening pizza in the world.. I'm convinced I'm consuming twice my daily amount when ordering from takeaways, it's just as well they don't come with nutritional info, anyways Ristorante Vegtable Piccante contans
10.1g of sugar
30.1g of fat
Overall this is a very satisfying lovely thin pizza, I will definitely use it as a standby on takeaway days as it's lovely and crunchy, contains generous amounts of toppings that don't even taste like they've been frozen, some pizza's toppings taste like plastic! It wasn't too dry and just right and I felt satisfied after eating it so it's definitely a good by for the price
Can be purchased at Tesco's and numerous other supermarkets for £2.25
