I love doner kebabs though I do try to avoid them like the plague as they are so unhealthy! However recently when in Asda I spotted a box of two of them, ready done and decided that at a pound a box they had to be worth a try to see if they satisfied a craving of mine I'd been having recently! The Packaging: The box is oblong in shape with a photograph of the doner kebas on the front of it and we are told that they are Easy Cook 2 Doner Kebabs In Pitta Breads '2 pitta breads filled with reformed, cooked and sliced seasoned mutton and chopped onions served with 2 sachets of hot and spicy tomato chilli sauce' and that they microwave in around 3 1/2 minutes and that they weigh 300g for the two of them. Other informaiton on the back of the box includes ingredients and allergy advice being given as well as a full nutritional information chart, cooking instructions are given and contact details for the manufacturer are given. Open the box you get two kebabs in white paper bags and 2 lots of sauce in clear plastic sachets. The Kebabs: We are only given only way of cooking these and that is from frozen, in their bags and for about 3 minutes in the microwave. The sauce simply needs putting under running under warm/hot water from frozen to defreeze it. What you get is a plain creamy coloured, thin pitta bread with about 5 round thin slices of meat and chopped onions that appear soggy and boiled and are wuite plentiful. The onions make the bread really wet sadly which makes it break up and taste soggy however the meat tastes like seasoned lamb and is also very moist and the onions do taste like boiled onions in their flavour. The sauce is a red colour, thin and completely tasteless. I detected no real falvour from that and certainly no hotness or kick. Easy to cook these are very plain and very soggy though the flavour of the seasoned meat I did like. I don't think these are terrible but I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase them again in the future!
