These potato skins are ideal for a quick snack.

I love Iceland's Cheese and onion Potato skins! For the price of one pound they've got to be worth sampling, haven't they? So, I decided to DO YOU DOOYOOERS a big favour and try them just for you!

They can be found in the frozen potato products section of Iceland. I have seen the cheese and onion version and another with bacon. As I don't eat meat I purchased the veggie friendly potato skins.

The 260g pack shows the product, fairly accurately, I would say. The dip shown is not included and is merely a serving suggestion. On the pack it states that these are :

Veggie friendly (Please see further into this review)

      Contain no hydrogenated fats
No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives
      No GM ingredients.

These skins can be oven cooked for approximately twenty minutes. Or they can be microwaved. I have only microwaved them as I don't think twenty minutes of gas or electric usage is warranted, if cooking alone. However, if the oven is already in use then I might try this method. If cooking four, they take between four to five minutes. depending on oven power. Then they need to stand for one minute. I would suggest standing for a little longer as the filling will be VERY hot!

Once ready, I will admit, just to you, that I put a very tiny drip of butter onto each skin and then sprinkle a little black pepper over the top of each potato skin.

Please note that these skins are small and, unless served with something else, they are not very filling. I find they are ideal to serve following soup, for lunch perhaps, or with salad and dips. So, they are ideal for a snack or a lunch. I would say that these are also great served as a supper. They are so easy to prepare and don't take up too much room in the freezer.

The only complaint I have is that I bought a pack of these and after cooking noticed a small piece of bacon in the filling of one of the skins. This is bad, especially as the claim is that they are veggie friendly. Although I don't eat meat, I do still cook it for other members of my family, so perhaps because of this, I am not too squeamish over this type of thing but, if I were a stricter vegetarian, even perhaps with poor eyesight, then I would have eaten this tiny piece of meat and perhaps been very upset. Because the bacon got mixed into the vegetarian friendly skins I am deducting a star.
