Advantages: Vegan, Healty, Nutritious, filling and tasty!
Disadvantages: None for me
I like to vary what I eat at lunchtimes because even if I really like a particular food choice eventually I will go off it if I eat it day in day out for lunch. For instance I enjoy toast, sandwiches, pitta bread and bagels but I wouldn't want them everyday. So with this in mind I am always on the look out for new ideas from cookbooks, internet websites and of course when out shopping. I am a vegan and I have often enjoyed smoothies made by 'Innocent' so you could say that I was very interested when I saw the opportunity to purchase a 'Veg Pot' in Tesco for Half Price! Yes, I thought to myself, this looks appealing. I like Mexican food and enjoy sweet potato too so this was a good choice for me.
~~The Innocent Story~~
It was some years ago that the creators of Innocent decided to give up work and start a new venutre - an Innocent venture! Understanding how difficult it is for hard working folks to return from work and then begin collecting good quality products to then make into a smoothie and then clear up afterwards, they began to develop great tasting smoothies to enable people to have something that was good and healthy in their lives. A new healthy habit.
Innocent is the chosen name because everything that goes into making an Innocent product is totally natural, there are no concentrated items in these tasty offerings, just 100% pure, fresh and natural goodies.
In 1998 when the first batch of smoothies were ready to be sold they were trialled at a music festival to see how well they were received by the general public. There were 2 bins for the bottles to be put into when empty - one said 'yes' and the other said 'no', the question was 'do you think we should sell these smoothies and give up our jobs? The 'yes' bin was full at the end of the event and so the story began.
Innocent don't pretend to be perfect but are honest and say that they are doing their best. Their goal is to leave things better than when they found them and take responsibility for their impact on society and the environment. Their quest is to be a sustainable business that has a positive impact on the wonderful world around us.
The latest in Innocent range of goodies is the arrival of the Veg Pots! They also offer:
Smoothies for kids
Superfruit smoothies - yum!
Innocent fruit tubes
A filling, tasty lunch - so this product is aimed at the lunchtime market. Comprising three veg ingredients, wholegrain and sauce - sounds nutritious to me. With herbs and spices - good for taste. Eight recipes to choose from and ready in only 4 minutes!
Eye catching, that is how I noticed them. The clear plastic tub is covered by a cream coloured sleeve that is so colourful and fun. Instantly recognizable with the same Innocent halo logo and font. This is a high quality product. The information is clear and easily followed. You discover who it is suitable for quickly, time for cooking and how is clearly visible as is the nutritional information which makes for good reading and you get little pictures of the ingredients dotted around the sleeve so you can see what you are getting inside. The tub is a good size for a filling lunch, it is sealed with a lid and this is easy to remove.

This product is made by a reputable and ethical company and is suitable for vegans so that is a good start for my requirements. The price is a bit expensive but this is a high quality and nutritionally balanced, healthy meal that certainly satisfies my appetite so indeed I got what I paid for (well even better I paid half price so that was a bargain). I would pay full price for this meal occasionally because it is that good. The packaging is very good quality. The method to heat up is clearly explained but just be careful when taking the lid off as this stuff is piping hot and there will be steam - gently does it. I poured it onto a plate but I wouldn't have had a problem eating it out of the container. I got an adequate amount for lunchtime and it certainly filled me up. It was warming and tasty, nutritious and satisfying. The food is well presented with fresh basil on top! I enjoyed the meal and look forward to trying out the other varieties.
I thought this was an expensive option initially but when you see what is inside and that it is all top quality natural stuff and nutritionally balanced the price is justified really. When you think how much you would pay for a sandwich and bag of nuts or whatever else you may buy then this is not really much different. I would recommend this Mexican dish without hesitation as it is tasty, filling and full of goodness.
Thank you for reading.
Summary: A spicy little treat!
