When I saw my work colleague with one of these bags, I had not seen them before and just had to have one as I have been on the lookout for a small bag which I can use to take my lunch to work. Boots' The Little Green Lunch Bag is pale Yellow in colour, but is 'Green' as it is a reusable bag designed for carrying your lunch. It costs 50p and can be found in the larger Boots stores where they sell sandwiches, drinks and snacks. Naturally, you won't find them in the stores that do not sell these items nor are they available online.
This is the product of both Boots and Diet Coke who have worked together to create the small textile 'Little Green Lunch Bag' as part of Boots 'Meal Deals' (however the bag can be purchased on it's own). The bag has a printed pattern on both sides with a pretty Butterfly design. The lunch bag is 100% Polyester which has been made from the equivalent of two 500ml plastic bottles. It can be used to carry your lunch time and time again and when it's time for a new bag it can be placed in a recycling bin as plastic.
It is an open bag with handles and has no fastenings, so if you are after a bag which is secure, this is not for you. I only use this bag to carry my lunch and it allows me to take a smaller bag to work now that I don't need one big enough to hold my lunch. I could of course take my lunch to work in an ordinary plastic bag, but the Little Green Lunch Bag looks a lot more stylish.
The Little Green Lunch Bag is 24cm wide and 19cm tall. I know that you are not going to be interested in what I eat for lunch, but as an example the bag is big enough to hold: a 400g tin of soup, 3 pieces of fruit, a 500ml bottle of water, packet of crisps and a large yogurt such as Muller Rice. The bag is also big enough for a plastic takeaway box which can be placed flat at the bottom of the bag, plus extra items on top.
The label inside the bag states that the bag should be 'sponge cleaned' only, however I have put it in the washing machine at 30 degrees a few times, as it can get dirty especially, if you carry fruit in the bag. Obviously it can't be ironed as it has a printed design on it; however it's not a bag that needs to be crease-free as I tend to roll it up and put it in my work bag when I have finished with it.
Overall, I recommend purchasing the Boots Little Green Lunch Bag and give it 5 stars as I don't see any disadvantages, as the soft textile bag is made from recycled assorted plastic bottles, is the perfect size to carry my lunch to work, has a nice design and can be recycled as plastic after use.
