“ Brand: Marks & Spencer / Type: Other Ready Meals „
I am already a fan of marks & spencer food, but my faith in them is growing by the day. Deemed by many as 'expensive', it really isn't any worse than anywhere else and for the quality of the food, i think it's always outstanding value for money.
Anyways, post christmas, you've eaten too much, start feel the few extra pounds you've gained and dread the summer. So you decide to diet. I do enjoy cooking, but as i'm working so much and often get in late, it's hard to find something thats healthy, quick and doesn't take much preperation. But when most 'low-fat' ready meals are awful and let's face it, gone in a few mouthfulls, i wasn't keen to go for any of those.
Then i discovered marks & spencers 'count on us' range. They seem to have a 3 for 2 offer on these meals a lot lately, so you really can't complain at that. I thought i'd buy a few and give them a try. The cherry tomato risotto being one of them.
It's suprising just how much food is in that little box, don't be fooled by the small looking package. Risotto is a love of mine, but it's very difficult to get right, however, the consistency of this is perfection. With that gentle 'stickiness' but still it remains light. While it loses in fat & calories it certainly doesn't lose in flavour. This tastes and looks home-made. With onion, courgettes and whole cherry tomatoes adding to the lovely tangy yet still slightly sweet sauce, the flavours all combine perfectly together.
I found the portion sizes to be just right, as i'll be honest, i like my food and most ready meals are tiny! It was plenty and left me feeling full for as long as any other normal meal would. I am very impressed by this and the 'count on us' range and will definately be sticking with it. They offer a HUGE selection of meals and there is everything from classics to the more contemporary cuisine.
For under £3 and little over 300 calories, you really couldn't make this and why would you when good food is this easy?
