“ Brand: Nando's / Type: Other Ready Meals „
I love eating out and I find Nandos to be one of those resturants that has a consistantly high standard of food and service throughout its branches that I have visited countless times.
HISTORY AND VALUES
Nando's was born in 1987 in South Africa, launching five years later in the UK.
Their statment includes that they live according to a set of values which are core to everything they do. They are pride, passion, courage, integrity and family. This helps them deliver a truly great Nando's experience.
The aims of the chain are to not take ourselves too seriously and their fun approach to life means when you visit Nando's you can fully relax without airs and graces. Eating with fingers is activley encouraged!
Nandos is famous for its peri peri sauces, the story has it that way back in the 15th Century, in the rich soils and intense heat of Southern Africa, the Portuguese forefathers made a monumentally important discovery - the African Birds Eye Chilli.
Known as PERi-PERi, this fiery little customer is added to special herbs and spices to give our Nando's original PERi-PERi sauce its unique flavour. The exact recipe remains a closely guarded family secret handed down from generation to generation.
PERi-PERi gives your taste buds an extreme work-out and contains no preservatives, no colourants or artificial flavours so it's totally natural and healthy. PERi-PERi helps reduce cholesterol and is rich in vitamins A and C. What's more, it's reputed to be an aphrodisiac.
At Nando's, there are pocket-friendly measures like bottomless soft drinks (excludes bottled waters, nectars or fresh juices) and yogurts mean you won't have to splash out a fortune.
What's even better, with a Nando's Loyalty Card, you can reap rewards of free chicken. Which is always a hit with the old man! Every 3 visits where you buy a meal over 5.80 in value and have your card stamped you get a free 1/4 of chicken, then 3 visits later you get a free 1/2 chicken and then on your tenth stamp you get a whole free chicken.
The marinades come a in a range of heats:
Lemon & Herb: for the sensitive palate
Medium: you're getting warmer
Hot: caution and respect required
Extra Hot: handle with extreme care!
Nandos Portobello Mushroom & Halloumi Cheese wrap is part of a new menu created to extend the Nandos menu beyond just chicken dishes. It
is served with green salad leaves, chilli jam and yogurt mayonnaise with PERi-PERi and coriander in a chilli wrap.
It was delicious!!! The mushroom was huge and the peri peri sauce and mayonnaise added some heat, but just enough. The halloumi was cooked to perfection and in a pitta is was a light yet filling lunch.
It is available with a selection of sides but I found this to be enough on its own. It is reasonably priced at 6.70.
As I said before I love to eat at Nandos and although I am not vegetarian I do struggle to eat chicken since keeping hens as pets at home. My husband and children still eat it though and we all see Nandos as a good value resturant with healthy alternatives to fast food. The mushroom wrap is a welcome addition to the selection of meals that I can eat as a non chicken eating Nandos visitor. To be honest the selection otherwise isn't too appealing.
Long live this wrap!
