Advantages: yummy, easy to make
Disadvantages: expensive for what it is, unhealthy
So we got this the other day from Tesco as part of a mexican theme evening and it was yummy!!
It is basically a sort of cook yourself kit which consists of a big bag of nachos, and a pouch of refried beans salsary stuff. You are supposed to add cheese (a neccesity) and then jalepenos, sour cream and guacamole and salsa (all reccomended on the packet) but being poor and lazy students, we only had the bog standard cheese to add.
What you do is in an oven dish, put half the chips, then add half the topping, then the other half of crisps, the other half of topping, and in our case, a whole packet of cheese (grated). Then its basically 12 minutes (ish) in the oven at about 180 just to melt the cheese and get everything hot.
This dish went down a storm and it was soon polished off. Everything was yummy, even without the extra things added on. It was salty and greasy and cheesy and beany and crunchy yes - but to be honest even though you knew it wasnt good for you, you still ate it because it was that good.
I can't tell you all about the nutritional info because the good housemates that they are actually put the packet in the bin but it can't be good for you.
we also made the fajitas which were yummy so we were really full - check out my review on these if you like?!
I did like it and it was really yummy but we have kind of decided that in future, to make it a bit cheaper (and so we can have the extra money for sour cream maybe?) we would do the same process but with tesco value tortilla chips, a can of refried beans maybe with some salsa/ketchup mixed in, and just the same cheese we allready ha to buy as an extra as the kit was nice, but not really worth the money.
If you're thinking about buying it, I would just do the above instead!
Summary: Yummy easy party/fun finger food!
