“ Brand: Quorn / Type: Vegetarian „
I love the Quorn sausages - I really think they have improved in flavour over the last couple of years and my partner will quite happily eat them aswell as they are much lower in fat than meat sausages and less messy as there is no fat spraying.
We both love pastry too and as a veggie I do miss the pastry products like pies and sausage rools therefore I was very excited to see this Quorn Sausage Lattice in the frozen section. I had never seen it before and having had a look on the Quorn website it does only appear to be available in Sainsburys.
We decided one winter lunch time to have this as a nice bit of comfort food. It cooked from frozen on a baking tree which was ideal. It looked lovely and golden once cooked and smelt delicious - really herby and pastry smell.
I have to say though I was very dissapointed. The meal was dry which was such a shame as the sausages on their own are normally lovely and moist. The pastry was very flaky and abit like sadust it was so dry. In the end we ended up having to put some tomotoe ketchup with it to moisten it up abit. The flavour was nice so it did have that going for it but I am afraid to say I will not be buying this again. I recommend if you do have it to put some gravy with it.
