“ Brand: Kepak / Type: Chicken „
I like having the odd Microwave Burger or Snack. They are just so convenient if you want something more filling than a bag or Crisps etc, and it's nice to have something hot, especially just when you are home from work and it's a while until tea time.
I'd never seen this one in the Rustlers range nefore. I knew of the normal Chicken Sandwich, but as the title of the product suggests, this has a bit kick to it.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the Rustlers range, it is a range of Hamburgers, Chicken Burgers and a BBQ Rib. These are found in the chiller section of shops and are cooked in the Microwave. Depending on your Micro wattage, these will take between 70-100 sconds to cook.
The packaging is alright for this. It is a square container which is quite deep. You peel the cellophane lid off to get to the product. You can't cook it in the container as it is plastic, and that would be good when all melted into your Snack.
The Burger is a Chicken Breast fillet which has a slightly spicy coating on it. It isn't in breadcrumbs, just a bit Chicken with some herbs and spices mixed through it. There is also a sachet ofPeri Peri sauce with this, so you can have this even more spicy. The Chicken is in a soft bun.
This is tasty and makes a nice change from just a plain Chicken Burger. It isn't too spicy, and I tried a bit before I added the Sauce on and it is nice enough without the Sauce on. However the Sauce adds that extra Hotness to it, and it reminds me of a more Chilli version of Reggee Reggee Sauce.
Not sure if this is a limited edition, as I mentioned I hadn't seen this before, and I would buy another again. Rustlers are normally sold around the £1.40-1.60 mark, but I paid £1.19 for this one.
As a launch of two new products, Tesco recently had an introductory offer on this product, just for a pound so being one who always wants to save a penny or two, I thought I would take advantage of this and try it out.
I am quite fond of some of the Rustlers products and find them quite useful when I haven't got the time to cook and I am wanting something to eat that is time consuming and quick.
Having tried some of the burger products fro Rustlers and enjoyed them, I wasn't quite sure what to expect of the chicken burgers as I had never had these before.
The Chicken burger comes in the normal Rustlers packaging, emphasising that it only takes 70 seconds to cook which is great when you are in a hurry. I took the burger out of the packaging and popped in the microwave for 70 seconds, stopping after 50 seconds to trun over to make sure that the bread underneath had softened as if you don't do this you find that it is still rock hard and the product is not as edible.
As it's going round in the microwave you can smell the spices on this particular chicken burger and once it has stopped, the product also contains a sachet of Piri Piri sauce. I think this is what attracted me to this particular product as I have always loved Nando's Piri Piri Chicken. I popped the sauce onto the chicken and off I went to see whether this was as good as some of their other products.
The chicken itself is a chicken breast fillet, not liked bread crumb coated chicken burger that you normally get with a kind of artificial chicken inside. As I bit into it the spices from the chicken and Piri Piri sauce hit me straight away, they are not powerful, just like the name of the burger really, Zingy, with a little bit of a kick to it. I found it to be really tasty and something a little dfifferent than a normal chicken burger.
Considering snacks are never good for you, this product has less than 400 calories in it, so it can be considered as a snack on a calorie controlled diet, however it does fill you up and you could have it as a meal replacement, because they are that filling.
I was impressed with this new addition to the Rustlers range and would definitely buy them again.
Just what is it that makes this chicken burger so zingy?
