      Nice sausage rolls.

I recently saw these sausage rolls from Sainsbury's Basics range of food products and thought I would buy them and try them as I am always snacking and on a lower budget for a couple of years now and I have such a large family and lots of grandchildren to feed when they come to stay etc and it can be quite an expensive time when a lot of them arrive at the same time, and so I thought the amount in the bag was a very good amount to try.

These come in a white and orange colours plastic bag, the packaging is very basic and for 50 sausage rolls they cost me only 98p for 700g, which I thought was a brilliant amount and they are frozen and each one measures approximately an inch and a half square and all I did was place them onto an oven proof tray and I coated them with a beaten egg, using a pastry brush and cooked them in the oven on gas mark 6 for approximately 40 minutes and I found they took no time to prepare as they are best cooked from frozen and very easy to coat them with the egg.

The texture of the pastry is quite soft after being cooked and the inside sausage meat is a reasonably nice taste, it is not the best quality by no stretch of the imagination but for the cheap price it is not a bad quality at all, in fact I think it is a very good one for only 98p and well worth the money.

Once baked, I just took them from the tray and then placed them onto a cooling rack and they cooled nicely, but I must admit I did eat about 4 of these before they cooled as I have a huge appetite and love snacks and the smell of these when cooked was lovely and I just could not resist sampling them before anyone else lol.

After I had cooked these and later in the day, some of my grandchildren arrived at my home and tasted them for their treat and they loved them and one of them told me to buy some more so she could bake them with me in the future, when she came over, and I do think these are very easy to cook for young children to have fun on baking days etc.

For each one they contain 54 calories, 4g of fat, saturates 1.9g.

I will buy these again as I found them very tasty and filling and I think for parties or snacks if you are on a budget, these are brilliant to add to your party food and the pastry does not taste at all bland and it rises very well while cooking and it does not taste too fatty like I thought it would when I first bought them, and they are easy to chew and swallow as the meat is quite a soft texture.

I do recommend these as I think they are good sausage rolls for the very cheap price and the amount in the bag.

      I rate them 5 stars.
