“ Brand: Sainsbury's / Type: Pizza „
I was looking for something easy to have for dinner yesterday so after a quick root around in the freezer, I shoved half of one of these pizzas in the oven. I hadn't been planning to even buy this particular variety, let alone eat it but my Dad put it in the trolley after seeing that it was on a buy one get one free offer (not the 2 for £3 that you can see on the above product image) so I didn't have much choice. I usually stick rigidly with cheese and tomato pizzas as I'm not a fan of anything spicy so I'd been rather put off by the fact that this pizza was named BBQ Chicken. I had visions of it being a really spicy offering that I'd immediately dislike but I was quite taken aback that it wasn't. The yellow and red elements of the topping gave it a mildly hot taste but nothing that I couldn't handle so I'd imagine that anyone who was expecting a really spicy pizza would be disappointed. If you happened to get a slice that was lacking in pepper, the overriding taste was just chicken topping on top of cheese and tomato. The chicken was relatively plentiful but there weren't as many peppers on my slices as you can see in the product image from the box. Overall, I liked it but mainly because it wasn't as barbecued as I'd expected. Sainsburys are doing quite a few offers on their own brand Deep Pan pizzas at the moment. On the last two occasions that we've visited our local Sainsburys store, this and the Four Cheese pizza have been on a buy one get one free offer, while the pepperoni and Haiwaiian varieties have been on a 2 for £3. They may change these around in the near future but it's pretty good value as I've already found their own brand pizzas to be more than acceptable.
