Useful standby freezer meal for busy people

I must admit i dont buy ready meals but this is one that i do buy. I must admit i only buy it when it is on offer as a BOGOF but have found it to be a brilliant item to have in the freezer.

Usually cost £2.00 each but are often a BOGOF or buy one get one half price.

It is a bit fiddly to prepare, you need you both an oven and a microwave but with clear instructions on the packet even my 22 year old son can have it ready for when I come in from a long day at work.

The meal comes in a plastic tray with dividers beef and gravy on one side, roast potatoes on the other, the yorkshire pudding you take out and have to put in the oven 5 mins before the end of the cooking time. The vegetables come in a plastic pouch which is pierced then microwaved. All this packaging I can recycle.

Like most ready meals the meat is thin sliced beef, but not too bad, the little roast potatoes + veg and yorkshire pudding all cook nicely and are very tasty. there is plenty of gravy in with your beef and overall the portion size is plenty for an adult.

Each pack has 336 cals, all values are in the green zone on the traffic light system apart from the salt content which recieves an amber award at 1.63g per pack.
total sugars are 8.3g, fat 6.4g with saturates at 1.6g.
there are no hydrogenated fats, artificial colours or flavours.

      Ingredients

Gravy, Roast Potatoes (25%), Carrot (15%), Peas (13%), Beef (10%), Gravy contains: Water, Cornflour, Beef Extract, Beef, Sugar, Tomato Puree, Salt, Wheat Flour, Malt Extract (from Barley), Roast Potatoes contain: Potato, Sunflower Oil, Dextrose, Beef contains: Beef (83%), Water, Dextrose, Salt, Yorkshire Pudding contains: Wheat Flour, Egg, Water, Rapeseed Oil, Skimmed Milk Powder (from Cows' Milk), Salt.

Overall a good freezer standby for busy days and nutritionally not too bad although it is not just a throw in the oven/microwave meal the instructions are clear and easy to follow .
