A great side dish but a bit heavy on the creamy calories

Out of sheer laziness I decided to get this ready made carrot and swede mash because I couldn't be bothered peeling veg for hours!
The carrot and swede mash comes in a plastic microwaveable container with a film lid, typical of a ready meal.
This dish can be cooked in the oven for around 25 minutes but, of course, I chose the microwave option.
After 4 and a half minutes of "a la carte ding", my delicious and effortless side dish was ready, which I served with gammon steaks.
This creamy dish consists of mashed potato, carrot and swede. However, it also contains cream. This unfortunately means that 100g of this has 80 calories and 4.1g fat, which is actually quite a lot! However, at £2, the price and convenience over-rides the negatives for me and I really enjoyed this dish. Therefore, I would definitely recommend it if you are in a hurry and not watching your figure.
This portion was more than enough for my partner and I to share. It's a really filling and tasty side dish.
It also makes a tasty snack for one if served on it's own with gravy.

Yummy But Loads Of Fat When You Could Do It At Home Yourself For Loads Less And Cheaper!

I brought this Carrot And Swede Mash from Tesco because I thought it would be a nice change from mashed potato, I was a bit stupid because I remember standing looking at it and thinking that it would have less calories in it than normal mash because potatoes are mega high in calories compared to carrots!

LOL!!! Like I said, I was an idiot because this IS mashed potato and it's just got carrot and swede mashed into it! AND there is cream and butter used in it as well so it's deffo not a low calorie or fat meal!

It tastes proper nice though. The mash takes about 25 mins to cook in the oven, you can nuke it as well but I reckon that would probably dry it up a bit. The main taste in it is mashed potato and that's majorly creamy, you can taste the cream in the mash and that gives it a gorgeous rich and creamy flavour. The next flavour I can taste is swede and that spoils it a bit because I can't taste the carrot through the swede hardly at all! You sort of get a taste of carrot here and there but it just comes on as a bit of a sweeter taste than the actual mash.

I had mine with a lamb dinner and it was delish with the gravy poured over it, the mash soaksed the gravy up but didn't go sloppy or anything like a lot of ready made mash does. It's proper filling as well, this 500g tub did 3 adults and that was enough because it got a bit sickly after a bit because of the different vegetables in it and also because the taste of cream gets a bit over powering.

In 100g there are 80 calories and 4.1g fat, that doesn't look too bad but each serving I'd say would be 200g so you can double that straight away and that's even before you've put the rest of your dinner on the plate!!!

Recommended... but not that often for me because it's not what I thought it was and I can mash potatoes with loads less fat in them than that at home!!!
