“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Chicken „
I was thinking for a while about my next review and decided on something different from my normal music review so ended up here. I probably shop mostly in Tesco and regularly pick up a couple of ready meals from there when I do my shopping. As someone who loves both Chicken and Pasta I love to find meals which mix the two together. Tesco present this common mixture as Chicken and Bacon Pasta Bake which I have tried from other supermarkets as well for those of you who don't shop at Tesco.
**Chicken and Bacon Pasta Bake**
The thing I have found with Tesco's ready meals is that they are pretty low in salt content compared to Asda who are guilty of having a high salt content in their ready meals although they have come down a lot since the bad reports. So what do we get in the Tesco Chicken and Bacon Pasta Bake?. Well Chicken and Bacon of course and the Pasta is Egg Penne. These are mixed with a Creamy Cheese Sauce with a slight crumb topping.
I have tried some other Chicken and Bacon Pasta Bakes that haven't really come out too well but I really like this one as the Chicken is meaty and a good size and the Bacon comes out rather well. I would prefer the cheese to be a little lighter and milder but it works well with the Chicken and Bacon to compliment the Pasta. Overall the taste of this one is very good and I would recommend it as one you should try.
This one is quite high in calories at 632 so I would recommend it for two people along with a salad. If you have it on your own then plan accordingly. There are 24.4g of Fat in the 400g, So again worth taking into consideration but this is not the highest results I have seen for a Chicken and Bacon Pasta Bake and some of that can be accounted for by the Cheese Sauce and the Bacon. It contains 1.9g of Salt which is again lower than I have seen from others.
This is a very nice meal which comes out well from the Microwave and is ideal as a meal for two with a little salad. This is just one of a long line of good quality ready meals from Tesco. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the combination of Pasta and Chicken. Tasty and wonderfully easy to prepare This is a very good Ready Meal indeed but not up quite up there with Tesco's best and that knocks a little star off.
This is one of my fave ready meals from Tesco at the minute, that's a bad thing actually because it's got shedloads of calories and fat in the meal but I'll give you the figures later because if I put them in now I don't think you'll bother reading the rest of my review! LOL
It's a pasta bake that has got chunks of chicken breast and bacon in a majorly creamy cheesey sauce. It sounds delish and it IS!!!
There's loads of chicken and bacon in the pasta bake, the bacon is smoked and that gives the meal a delish flavour. It's penne pasta and I love it because the sauce goes inside the little tubes and the taste is gorgeous, the pasta cooks proper nice and I've eaten this meal shedloads of times and have never had a crappy bit of pasta that's gone soggy or is still hard or anything like that.
The chicken is GORGEOUS! It's chicken breast and is cooked proper nice, it's tender and actually tastes like proper chicken and not the fake tasting stuff that usually goes into Tesco's meals! I love how the chicken is coated in the creamy sauce because it makes it taste lovely and moist and also the sauce brings out the taste of the different things in the meal.
The sauce is thick and majorly creamy in taste AND texture. There's just enough to coat the food but not that much that you're left with shedloads of it on your plate when you've finished eating. It's a dead smooth sauce and the flavour of it is soooooo yummy, it hasn't got a VERY cheesey flavour but you can deffo taste it over the rest of the other ingredients and I think it goes proper nice with everything else in the meal.
You can buy this Chicken And Bacon Pasta Bake in 400g individual portions or 800g sharing size ones. They take about 25 mins in the oven, you can nuke it too but I wouldn't fancy that because I don't think the pasta would cook all that good because there isn't really enough sauce in it to coat the pasta enough to protect it from the microwave heat.
Oh yeah, them figures I was talking about!!! The 400g meal contains 630 calories and 24.4g fat and I'm not going to go on about that because it kind of speaks for itself! lol
Recommended... a delish ready meal that doesn't taste of pure salt and is GORGEOUS!!! Just don't bother even picking one up if you're on a diet!!! lol
