An Easy Accompaniment For Xmas Dinner

My mum brought these ready prepared sprouts from Tesco to go with Xmas dinner, she never goes to the stress of buying and peeling her own because she hates them with a passion and only buys them for my aunt and cousin! lol

These ones come in their own pot and can be microwaved in a few minutes so that makes them ideal when you're cooking a massive meal like Xmas dinner. They don't smell as putrid as boiling sprouts and I was happy to go into the kitchen while these are cooking!

When they were done I told my mum that I'd have a couple on my plate to try because the smell of bacon was lovely and strong on them. I'm not a fan of brussels sprouts but these weren't THAT bad, they were deffo cooked better than the sloppy balls my mum usually dishes out and had a slightly crunchy texture in the centre of each sprout.

The bacon and shallots are just cubes of hot ham and onions, they have been added to the sprouts but had all sunk to the bottom of our bowl of sprouts so I reckon you should give it all a good shake before cooking and a good stir afterwards!

I wasn't mad keen on the texture of the bacon cubes because some of them was proper fatty, they don't taste as strong as they smell but they have given the sprouts a bit of a smokey flavour. The onions just season the sprouts I reckon because they're not strong enough in taste to overwelm the sprouts but they give the whole thing a nice onion aftertaste.

We paid about £1.79 for this bowl of sprouts and that's not a bad price, I know sprouts are cheap anyway but at least with these they're all good to go and they are going to turn out loads nicer than a plate of squishy green mush on your plate!
