“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Potato „
I brought these mini jacket potatoes from Tesco because I thought they looked nice, I used to get something similar from Sainsburys and they were yummy so I thought these would be as good. I didn't think they was that good because the filling doesn't soak into the potato so it's majorly dry except for the bit of potato that touches the filling. The potatoes take about an hour to cook even though the pack reckons just 45 mins. I took mine out after that time and some of the potato was still rock hard, even after an hour it wasn't as tender as the potatoes I cook myself but the filling was starting to dry up so I had to take them out and have them as they come. The filling is quite tasty but it's just onion flavoured soft cheese, it doesn't go creamy as it's cooking and the bottom bit that's actually inside the potato feels a bit rubbery when it starts cooling down. The onion isn't very strong and the main taste is cheese, the taste is a bit creamy even though the texture isn't but that's a bad thing here because it means the taste of cheese doesn't come through very well. Like I said, the potato doesn't cook through very good and that wrecked it for me because I HATE hard potatoes, they've got to be tender for me to enjoy them. It would be a bit better if the filling went a bit more runny so that it could help make the potatoes go a bit softer like when you add more butter than usual because you've taken your jacket potato out a bit too early. It's good value to buy these because you get about 8 mini jacket potatoes for £1.00 so if you've got a trick for making the potatoes cook a bit softer then this is cheaper than cooking your own jackets. Its a shame they don't work that well because I reckon this filling would taste proper nice on a better cooked potato. Recommended..... sort of!
