Tesco Value Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce
Advantages: Nice tasting spaghetti for the price.
I have been buying this spaghetti for quite some time because my little grandson just loves spaghetti. He eats it all the time and when I first bought it last year when he was a little younger I wasn't too sure if it would be suitable because he loves the branded ones. I thought for the price it was worth a try to see if he liked it and also to try myself.
It comes in a can of which needs a can opener to open it. The can is just basic looking and in the usual colours of blue and red from the Tesco Value range. It cost only 14p for a 410g can, so a very cheap price. The spaghetti inside is cut and the length is quite a long length. I like the idea of the spaghetti cut this way because it is so easy for my grandson to eat more easier. He can easily just spoon it into his mouth without having to cut it. I do not have to cut this spaghetti for him because it is already cut to a nice size for a small child to eat.
The spaghettis is inside a rich Tomato sauce, this sauce is quite a rich, thick consistency and not at all runny. It is a nice red colour too and the spaghetti is a pale beige colour and the same look as a branded one. The sauce does taste of tomatoes and not bland. It is not a bitter taste and is quite delicious. Because it is a rich consistency it means it does stay on the spoon or folk and it does not drop from the cutlery. It does sometimes as it would with a branded one but it does stay well on the cutlery to reach the mouth without making more of a mess on the table etc.
I eat this myself quite a lot and I like it to eat it with chips and on toast. I find it is nice with a cooked breakfast instead of tomatoes and for a change. It is nice eaten with another food and it is a nice additional food on the plate. It is a good quality and excellent value for the cheap price. I find it is quite filling and the texture of the spaghetti is nice and soft in the mouth. It is so smooth and soft but it is not too smooth that I cannot feel it in my mouth or in a way that it is mushy or has a mashed texture.
I also find that the can isn't half empty as some other cheaper brands tend to be, this one has the spaghetti almost to the top of the can and a good amount in the can and it is not all tomato sauce instead of the spaghetti and it is the product it is meant to be with this one.
It is so quick and easy to cook and all that is needed is to pour the contents of the can into a saucepan and heat gently for approximately 3 or 4 minutes, just stirring occasionally and it is ready to eat. It can be also cooked in a microwave and placed into a non metallic dish and covered in cling film or a lid and cooked for approximately 2 minutes on full power.
Per half a can it does contain the following, 100 calories, 0.6g of fat, 0.2g of saturates, 1.2g of salt and 8.2g of sugars.
It is also suitable for vegetarians.
If the full can is not eaten in one sitting then the remaining spaghetti can be placed into a dish and kept in the fridge for up to 2 days.
I cannot fault this spaghetti, it is a nice tasty one and I highly recommend it for others to give it a go as I do think is a nice cheaper brand and one that I think is so affordable. It gives me all the taste that I expect from a cheap brand and with all the taste and I will continue to buy it in the future. Also for 14p it is a give away price in my opinion.
I give it 5 stars.
