      Not for me

I was a veggie for about 15 years up until christmas. However, the majority of the food I buy is still vegetarian due to me personally finding it easier to eat. When browsing in Tesco the other day my eyes fell on these, usually I buy Heinz but being in my 'must save money' mood I chose these instead. They can be found in the tins aisle in Tesco, along with the beans. They cost 78p for 420g. It is worth noting that the package design is no longer like the picture. Instead, the tin is a deeper green with Tesco written at the top. There is then a picture of a sausage and some beans, around this is some drawing turning them into a train. Heating the beans and sausages is really easy. You can either pop them in the microwave for 3 minutes or put them on the hob for 4-5 minutes. I chose to heat mine on the hob because personally I think they taste nicer. After the 5 minutes were up, they were steaming nicely meaning they were piping hot throughout. I think there was about 6 sausages in the tin and of course plenty of beans. I think the ratio of sausages to beans was quite good as there were plenty of each. The beans tasted exactly the same as Tesco beans really! They were nice, though in my opinion not quite as tasty as Heinz. The sauce was thick but didnt have much taste. It tasted tomatoey but this flavour wasn't too strong and instead much more subtle. Overall, the beans were ok and I would probably give them alone 3.5 stars. The sausages on the other hand, I did not enjoy. They appeared to have herbs in them although they had no flavour. They were quite rough and not like other sausages you find in products like this. They were wrinkly and quite frankly not very appetising. The texture and taste meant that I couldnt manage more than two of these. I was suprised to see that these actually contained more fat than the meaty version my niece had! A serving (half the tin) contains 250 calories, 7.1g sugar, 8.4g fat, 2.1g saturates and 1.6g salt. Therefore they are not the healthiest of snacks either, however as part of a main meal I suppose they are ok. I would only suggest buying these if there are no alternatives. However, if you do not like the texture of the Heinz sausages these could be for you. Personally I found them quite horrid and wont be buying them again!
