Advantages: Helpful and reliable service, friendly staff
Disadvantages: -----------
I first discovered Arrow Removals some time back when I needed some furniture I'd had in storage in the Midlands delivering to Ipswich, I had contacted a lot of the larger removal companies who were quoting more than I really wanted to pay so I decided to have a look around online for smaller companies as I generally find these to be the most competitively priced and it's nice to get the small personal touches that smaller outfits offer.
I telephoned for a quote and was given one instantly by the very helpful and polite lady who answered the phone, she explained how the removals system worked and took all the relevant details which included a contact telephone number in case there was a problem. We arranged my delivery for four days later and I was given fairly specific times as to when I could expect my furniture to be collected and delivered, of course Birmingham to Ipswich is a long drive so the lady explained that this time frame would all be dependent on traffic that day although I was assured I would be contacted if there was going to be any major hold ups.
I was pleasantly surprised the day before to receive a phone call confirming all the details, this was the same lady and she went through everything once again to ensure we both had the correct end of all sticks involved in this removal! I must admit I was slightly worried as I have always used big name removal firms and putting my trust in a much smaller company was a real step from the beaten path for me, I was unsure as to how the company would perform but based on the helpful attitude of the lady on the telephone I found my mind was put at rest.
I received a telephone call at 10am on the day of delivery assuring me that my furniture had been collected from the storage centre and I was then advised that Mark, the gentleman who runs Arrow Removals, was running to schedule and would be with me at the arranged time. This was wonderful as it meant I was able to go and do some shopping while poor Mark was traversing the motorways with my furniture!
He made good time and when he arrived I was pleased to see that my furniture had all been securely placed in his van, with several items being strapped down to ensure there would be no breakages or damage to anything. There were two men doing my removal, both of whom were very polite and happy to help. Due to my health I was not able to help with any of the lifting but kept them supplied with cups of tea while they deposited my furniture in the correct places where I had asked them to put it, every item was treated with respect and there was none of the bangs and clatters you tend to hear when using the larger removals companies who frankly seem to care very little about the state of your goods when they deliver them to you.
Mark gave me his business card and outlined the kind of work he takes on which is basically removals from domestic and business premises as well as the collection and delivery of bulky items. He is generally based in the West Midlands although will offer a nationwide service for jobs such as mine where there is a full van load to be delivered. Incidentally I'm not sure where Dooyoo got the photograph above from as Arrow Removals use a tall Transit van and not the larger van you can see!
I found the service overall to be excellent from start to finish; everyone I spoke to was extremely helpful and seemed concerned that I understand the process fully. The actual delivery of my furniture went without a hitch and the times given were adhered to, although please be aware on the British roads that delays are sometimes inevitable and this shouldn't be blamed on the driver! Having said that, if there was a delay and I wasn't informed then I would be hopping mad myself but I was assured that should any delays or problems arise then I would be contacted and I have absolutely no doubt that this would have happened in the event of a problem.
The quotes I have obtained from Arrow Removals have always been very reasonable, much more competitive in fact than larger removals companies and also better than several other quotes I had been given from various 'Man with a Van' enterprises in the Midlands.
Since my furniture was delivered I have used Arrow Removals around four times, the fact that they are Birmingham based means they are central to many areas. I found them an absolute godsend after buying some bulky items on Ebay, the items were in Coventry and also needed delivering to Ipswich and once again Mark was happy to help. Obviously if I needed something delivering from the South to Ipswich then I'd call someone more local, but next time I need anything delivering either from to to the Midlands then I shall certainly give Arrow Removals a call.
I have recommended Arrow Removals to many friends and relatives, my younger daughter herself used the company just before Christmas when my son in law needed a load of computer parts picking up from Worcestershire and delivering to Northampton. She too has nothing but praise for Arrow Removals, especially considering the care their items received which is in sharp contrast to one of the most well known removal companies in the phone book who weeks earlier had damaged over £500 worth of computers and didn't even apologise upon delivery!
If you would like to try Arrow Removals for yourself then you can call them on 0121 683 1187 or Mark uses a mobile phone while he is working and the number for that is 07722 434413. I have always been able to contact him on one of these two telephone numbers and my delivery has usually been arranged on the first telephone call, rather than having to wait for ages for someone to call me back.
Summary: An excellent small company who are much better than the larger ones I've used in the past.
