BEWARE - Have gone into liquidation earlier in 2009, the conman running this company named Gurmeal Singh has restarted a new 'Removal' company called MOVEMEEASY LIMITED at 130 Marvels Lane London SE12 9PG.Suffice to say, he is as appalling as before and is causing us exactly the same problems. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
we used these monkeys on our big move from London. Van pulled over on M4 for being overweight by a ton. No tax or insurance, van put in police hold. We had 4 month old baby, no clothes, no nothing. No calls, monkeys on train back to London before we knew, and only because we called them. Refused to pay anything else, they had £100 up front. Women on phone at party couldn't care less. Next day another company called and demanded £400 per van load instead of 1 van and £450 left to pay. Refused to pay, started saying that they would take the van. Police said we could have our things. Suddenly van turned up, new £500 wardrobe was battered, daughter's cot broken legs off, garden chair back vanished, wall art broken in two. No way to claim from insurance. Stressed to hell, wife in tears. Finally everything arrived but all too late really. Glad these buggers have had their company closed. Knew they were dodgy. Thought about doing the Facebook thing! Cheers
Thank you to everybody for alerting me to the issues of ASL. I was seeking a removal company in the south-east London area and knew them as A - Z Removals, but I gather they also have been known as Everest Removals. I was reading the reviews and thankfully I recognised A - Z as being ASL under another name.News Shopper report: http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/4183476.print/Lewisham Council report:http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/NewsAndEvents/News/SecondRemovalFraudster.htm
Please be warned and read the advice offered in the reviews on ASL removals. These people are fraudsters and thieves. They are not to be trusted and you should not expect to see your goods in one piece, if ever, if you use them. BE WARNED!!
That 5 star rating was clearly one of the fakes they started posting in August. To confirm: ASL Removals are now closed anyway due to their appalling service and reputation (and to avoid claims against them). As a warning, since these sharks may well have set up under a different name now, if you select any removal agency based in this area of London, I highly recommend being very suspicious if you find out the owner is called Germaigh (pronounced 'Jerloo') Singh, with an alleged brother with the same cockney voice called Sebastian. Coincidentally is the only one available when there is a problem...I am continuing a case against the owner through the courts - if anybody needs help or advice on that front then let me know. esusda

DO NOT USE ASL REMOVALS, Forest Hill, London.
We used them to move from London to Scotland in June 07. In brief -
- The truck broke down in Rotherham at the height of the June floods
- They failed to tell us this until the truck was almost a day late.
- They attempted to charge us more money once they had all of our belongings on the truck, falsely claiming we had more than when they provided the quote
- They kept our belongings for an entire week, unable to tell us exactly where they were, whether they were dry/damp, and when we could expect them to arrive
- They didn't return any of our calls throughout the duration of our 'move', becoming outright rude and hanging up on us latterly. Any communications we did have were initiated by us.
- My husband had to pay for an additional return flight to meet them in Glasgow when they arrived a week late
- When the truck finally arrived, upon opening it looked like a bomb had hit it - boxes emptied on the floor, broken furniture, smashed pictures, etc. They demanded money straight away and threatened to drive off with our belongings if we didn't pay
- It later emerged that our belongings had been transferred in and out of this and several other trucks during the week, finally sharing with another load destined for Newcastle
- Many of our belongings were missing or damaged
- After weeks of pursuit and latterly legal threats, we were reluctantly provided with insurance details for Norwich Union. Once we had prepared and submitted our claim, it was rejected as the policy had only been taken out the previous week and did not cover our move. We had to claim through our own insurance for the £1500 of loss and damages, pay the excess and lose our 'no claims'. There had not been any appropriate insurance cover in place during the time of our move despite ASL repeatedly and fraudulently insisting that there was. If your move was after August 1st 07, their current policy details are - policy no. 243800015 CXF, Kelly Armstrong T/A ASL Removals - good luck!
After reading complaints on forums like this, and on advice from Trading Standards and Norwich Union, we filed a claim with Woolwich County Court - Small Claims track - for fundamental breach of contract and we won (claim no. 7WO01938 against Sebastian and Sat Singh and Kelly Armstrong trading as ASL Removals). They filed a pitiful written defence claiming they had been 'considerate, empathetic and courteous' to us at all times, and included terms and conditions from a different removals company which they claimed had been posted to us when we booked. They didn't even bother to show up in court. Our award from the Court covers our insurance claim excess, return of our fee in full, and our expenses both arising from their late delivery and our court fees.
We have never been through court proceedings before but companies like ASL should not be allowed to continue trading and this is the only way that we can try and get them out of business. ASL periodically remove posts on this forum - this came to light during our court case, there are many other people out there who have had this experience - we collated posts before they were wiped over a 7 month period so please keep checking and re-posting and do everything you can to stop other people falling into the trap of ASL Removals.
I wish I had seen this before I used ASL earlier this year, they were appalling.
They were FIVE hours late (!) and then demanded twice the fee once they had half of our belongings in the van. We refused so they only took half of our stuff to the new flat; it was less than a 2 miles away. Friends had to help us with the rest.
They were totally unprofessional, rude, obnoxious and unhelpful, I literally felt threatened by them and did not want to be alone with them at all.
Some items were damaged in the move and the teenagers they seem to have employed were shouting at the neighbours etc. No receipt, no help from their manager on the phone when they demanded more money, who told us if he had to come down and inspect the 'extra boxes' it would cost us more money!!
I am really glad that they have been reported to Trading Standards and that someone has managed to get a court ruling against them, I felt totally violated after they had moved our things and been in our house.
The fake reviews from them on here are as transparent as they are ludicrous, DO NOT EVER USE ASL REMOVALS!!
At first they start off sincere and polite and so you think you've got a good deal!
As time moves closer to the date of the move, they start showing worrying signs of unprofessionalism and unreliability. For example, they turn up hours late for estimates, fail to delivery boxes on time, get customers names and addresses mixed up etc (really not a good recipe for a removal company!)
On the day of the move, not only do they turn up late again, they also bring no sofa covers or carpet protectors as promised. Then half way through the move they have the nerve to demand almost double the quote saying that the move will take 2 van trips and not 1 as THEY originally estimated! They insist that this was explained at booking, when it never was. They make out that it is you who has misunderstood them, and not their fault. They twist your words and make a stressful day, more stressful!!! Bottom line is you end up paying the extra because you are in a vulnerable position on the day, you need to move out of one house and into another, and they have already moved half your stuff! (clearly this was their intention all the time) And then of course it doesn't end there, they want all the money in CASH, so when you should be at home coordinating the move, you're at the bank in a very long que about to make a huge cash withdrawal!!!
After the move, they fail to pick up the boxes and pay back the deposit. They don't return calls, they stop picking up the phone, they give bogus times and dates to pick up the boxes. They try to twist your words and make out that you are to blame again (something they think they are very good at!). Their initial politeness turns into serious rudeness...Makes your blood boil.....
Basically, they are a complete bunch of %^&*$£!!!! who prey on people's honesty and good will - how they sleep at night, I don't know? They clearly have severe difficulty in understanding words such as: professional, punctuality, reliability, honestyand integrity.
Do not be fooled by them!!!!!!!
If only I read these reviews about them earlier, I certainly wouldn't have booked them in a million years!!!!
ASL removals in Forest Hill London.
I used them to move 3 items from Kent to Scotland, They collected on the Wed to deliver the following day. Guess what, it never arrived, and they did not bother to contact me either. Their excuse' the van had broken down!! Apparently they use this excuse regualry. Well it did not arrive the next day, they gave me 4 different times 2 deliver, after I called them asking where my furniture was. Friday I was told it would be with me by mid morning...nothing, then I was told 5.30, again nothing, then at 10.30pm, still no furniture. All the time they made no contact. Then I was told 1am it would arrive Sat morning, it arrived at 2.30 in the morning. They refused to unload till they were paid; I refused to pay until they unloaded my furniture. In the end I called the police then when I said I would pay them once it was off the van, they still refused to unload, they then insisted I had to pay more as they had to take it down 6 steps!!! Also they said that I had an extra one piece of furniture, which was unture. I refused and told them I had an email with their quote. As I was talking to the police and when they realised this, and I said I would pay once it was out of their van so with the threat of the police they took the furniture into my apartment then left. The furniture had been damaged slightly. The reviews that have been taken off this site about ASL all warn of their scam in charging more money before they will unload your furniture, about also charging more money for having to take it into your apartment/house. Others have paid this out, had their good damaged and had the most appalling experience from these guys who really could not care less about your goods or how long they keep them. The reviews saying they are an excellent company are NOT written by people who have used them but by the company themselves. I warned them I would write this review hence they have written their own liars. BE WARNED DO NOT TRUST OR USE ASL. I have written to Watch Dog about this company as the public need to be aware. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
They used to be on a web site touchlondon.co.uk but they seem to have vanished from this site, just be very aware of this awful comnpany.
Latest update 14.7.08: This is now with the Trading Standards Office in Lewisham who are investigating my complaint and many others, although it seems they are still defrauding the public. I have today sent an email to the TSO to update them on the situation. Let's hope with all the complaints something can be done to stop these awful people.
