Advantages: My flat is great, quick to do repairs
Disadvantages: Expensive signing fee
This is my landlord. They are an agency that look after landlords houses and keep them maintained and do all the paperwork. However they actually own the house that Im in so its a bit better.
We first met them in January this year, I arranged to go and look round some flats with them, so one wintery evening we went to our flat and loved it. We had to pay a £50 deposit that evening, signed a one year contract to start in July. I then went and payed the rest of our deposit (£525) and the ridiculous signing fee (£100).
On June 30th I was begging them to give me the keys a day early as our contract on our last house ran out that day. They very kindly cleaned it, and gave us the keys with a nice little welcome pack.
We had no matress but they promised that would be delivered the next day, which it was. There was however provided: washing machine, oven, fridge, freezer, table and 4 chairs, desk, desk chair, chest of drawers, and a cupboard.
They are a great landlord to have as they are so quick to complete maintenence. Our ceilings in the flat are quite high, so they come round and change our spotlight light bulbs for us. Theres someone who comes and cuts the grass and tidies up the outside of all the rubbish that the house of 9 next door leave lying around.
The flat is done to a lovely standard, and the workmanship is very good. Its a professional let, as its a one bedroom, so the rent is expensive. This is the case with a lot of housing in Leeds particularly one bed flats and student houses.
The house is lovely and Victorian, it has loads of character and is very imposing on the road. Weve got a nice raised garden, a drive and a little back yard that is all walled off so very private. We share this with the rest of the house.
Also someone popped in today to check that we were having no problems with our boiler. Much cheaper than having someone from the gas company come to do it.
Our deposit is kept in a protective scheme, and we completed an inventory when we moved in so that we can easily get our deposit back.
The staff at Aston are very polite, very efficient and always able to help. I have heard they are less helpful (from my next door neighbours, 9 students) and that no repairs ever get done. I guess they are just more professional with people on a professional let, which isnt right but Im happy!
