Poor build, Poor attitudes, Never buy barratts (Barratt Homes)

I hated everything about my Barratts house. Moved into Nursery Gardens in Melton Mowbray 2 years ago and am still upset about it today. I was told by the sales person it was a nice area but we had really bad anti-social behaviour problems in the area and had no end of problems. Bought the house while at DPC level so did not realise the poor workmanship involved. Kitchen was unbelievable for a £200,000 house. Nothing was plumb, drawers falling off, floor uneven. Had to get workers back to move fireplace into the centre of the room. Staircase had to be replastered. They wouldnt move the access hatch to the loft from the middle of our master bedroom (it was in the dressing room in the showroom). Electric socket over sink drainer had to be moved yet they argued the case it was legal. Idiots. The 2nd floor was freezing, I doubt there was any insulation in the sloping ceilings. (they were built to really old building regulations standards due to a loophole in passing large numbers of the same dwellings - even though their blurb in the showhome stated they built to current building regulations - liars)Customer service were appalling. These large companies only have customer service centres because they have to. They arent bothered in the slightest about your problems. Moved out after 15 months because I hated it so much (at a loss) and have now moved to an older property. Feel so much better now.

Summary: Never again.
