Disadvantages: Losing a lot of money

Last year I purchase a Barratt house off plan, I have tried to sell my current house privately but to no avail. Barratts offered me their "100% part exchange" to aid me in my move to the new house. The sales man TWICE offered me £118k and this had been signed off by his boss but then retracted the bid stating that they didn't know that I wasn't buying the house at the "now price" and that they had already given me a £4,500 discount as it is my second Barratt house, all of this information has been in their file for the last year and now they are only offering £106k all due to a mistake by the Barratts sales man and his boss. This is now leaving me with a £19k shortfall on my mortgage. iIf I back out of the deal I lose my £20k deposit. I have spoken to one of their managers and stated my case but they are not willing to offer any incentives, if I do back out of the deal they can sell the house for approximately £10k more than I purchased it for and they have my £20k, they are in a win win situation! Currently stuck between a rock and a hard place due to two Barratt employee's who do not know what they are doing. Has this happened to anyone else?
