PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONSIDERING PURCHASING A BARRATT HOME

I bought a large 4 bedroom detatched home in Lanarkshire, Scotland 18 months ago. For 7 months now my ensuite shower has been leaking through my livingroom ceiling and I have been left with a damaged carpet in livingroom/dining room, no carpet at all in my ensuite bedroom and no lino in my ensuite. The wall in my ensuite is black with damp and the smell is discusting. 6 weeks ago another water episode - a valve burst in my downstairs cloakroom and entirely flooded my kitchen so again I am left with no floor covering there. I cannot fault Barrat on sending out workmen as they have sent approximately 20 to my house so far but the problem remains unresolved. Their customer care department in the west of scotland area is a complete embarrasment to their company and I can only surmise that the entire company is run in this way. I have been fobbed off constantly by them. I had an inspector out at my house a month ago who told me along with the customer care department to go to a carpet shop and get quotes for replacements. I did not pick anything excessive and the bill was approximately £800 for all the damaged flooring including underlay and fitting. I have now been told by Barrat that they will send someone out to my house with sample books and I can pick carpets from them and they will arrange fitting but they cant say when. I have been left with a £200k doss house for 7 months now. Please do not buy a house from Barratt as once they have your money they do not care less.
