My daughter bought a Barrat ground floor apartment 2 years ago. There have been a few small problems since moving in but 2 MASSIVE ones. There was severe damp, which we kept being told was condensation, until an inspector ( EVENTUALLY) came out and all the furniture, clothes, beds, carpets had to be disposed of. My daughter who was pregnant at the time and her partner were sleeping in the lounge for weeks. Once again, EVENTUALLY they were reimbursed for the furniture and a new carpet was laid and the walls damp treated and painted and we were told the problem has been resolved.
This weekend the damp is back....now they have a five week old baby, damp mouldy carpets, damp clothes and water running off the waslls and windows!!!!!!!!!
There are a number of properties on the same development with the same problem, one couple have ahd to be moved into temporary accomadation for whayt could be up to six months!
What do we do??? The property would not be able to be sold, they have had nothing but problems through no fault of their own. I suspect it will end up in a legal wrangle with Barratts but I will take up the challenge for the little person.
My advice.......don't buy from them!!!!!!
