Advantages: A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD, JUST

Disadvantages: POOR RESALE, VERY STRESSFULL, CHEAP AND RUBBISH POUND SHOP HOUSES

We bought a Barratt house in November 2003 and I can say it is the worst decision I have ever made.
We started off with a good few lies from the sales people about doors, fixtures etc.
Then when we moved in we discovered all the lights take special bulbs and after a lot of complaining they gave us one bulb!!! for the entire house, we couldnt get any from any shop as they are so special so I had to replace every light fitting with standard fixtures. This was just the start,
I have had over 100 faults including whole roof needing replacment, walls with holes, wobbly ceilings, floors that are totaly uneven, flooded driveway, garage door bent most windows needed replacing (they are mostly bent now and barely stuck in the frame).
A side wall needing fully repointing,bridged damp courses,faulty cooker and smoke alarms

Once you complain you are enemy number one and I still have 44 faults from November that still are not done.

The quality of the homes are really bad,no door bell,no coving,flat interior doors,no outside taps,no outside lights,crap kitchens,poor sanitary ware,
in fact think of the cheapest, poor quality household product and barratts will install it.

The managment are the worst ever that I have dealt with, they treat with disdain and constantly quote the NHBC (even though most of their directors on the NHBC board)

our garden is a pile of uneven mud with no proper fence and the painting is the worst I have seen anywhere!! our house looks at least 10 years old inside and out even though it was built November 2002.

Barratts dont care one bit because they control the NHBC and they are the only ones that can make them do anything.

IF FOR ANY REASON YOU GO TO A BARRATTS ESTATE TO BUY ONE, KEEP WALKING, PLEASE KEEP WALKING DO NOT BUY, THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER. BUT IF YOU DO HAVE TO BUY ONE MAKE THEM RIGHT EVERYTHING DOWN AND SIGN IT. NEVER EVER TAKE THEIR WORD FOR ANYTHING AS THEY ARE LIAR

OUR HOUSE SUPPOSED TO BE LUXURY DETACHED BUT THE BUDGET SEMI WE LEFT WAS FAR SUPERIOR
