Kevin McCloud, presenter of Grand Designs on Channel 4, is angry about the state of housing in Britain today. In protest to the shoddy estates cropping up around the country, he plans to build his own suburban housing estate, to prove it can be done properly. But first he needs YOUR opinion and advice... he wants to talk to people who live in, ... Read the complete review

I hated everything about my Barratts house. Moved into Nursery Gardens in Melton Mowbray 2 years ago and am still upset about it today. I was told by the sales person it was a nice area but we had really bad anti-social behaviour problems in the area and had no end of problems. Bought the house while at DPC level so did not realise the poor ... Read the complete review

Barratts Thameswalk New riverside development, Barratts in their wisdom sold to a load of people who had fraudulant mortgages...and then who promptly installed a load of gang member rogue tenants who have turned the place into a ghetto...guns, crime, fraud, intimidation....reposessions rife, empty flats already.....£30,000 negative ... In general, Barratts provided me with a new house with few problems for a reasonable price. However, the soundproofing (in a house built in 2001/2 before the new soundproofing laws came into effect) is definitely not as good as it should be. The house as a whole could be somewhat more solid - if you have heavy plant machinery outside ... Read the complete review

I went to 'The Elms' development in Leicester to enquire about Barratts new development. I met the sales adviser Phillip Graham, he blurted out 'What do you want', I said I didnt like his mannerism. I wanted to make sure people were aware so to avoid future upset. I have recently purchased a Brand New Barratt home, based in Rochford in Essex. The house is gorgeous, there have been a few problems as you would expect, snagging to be fixed, eg paint work touching up and screws missin here and there. Everything has been sorted, and the time scale ... Read the complete review

My house is full of naphthalene, a toxic gas that is potentially cancer-causing. Barratt East London are aware of this, but have failed to remove the contamination source. Instead, for the last five years they and Newham Borough Council have been in 'without prejudice' negotiations about sealing the cellar floor of the 8 houses affected. We have no ... Barratts West Midlands office Construction Department ( the Construction Director will not even talk to customers!) have little in the way of Customer Service skills. We moved into our new Barratt home in Bonnybridge Scotland in May '03, and the snagging list was quite significant. Mostly poor workmanship on the part of the Sub Contractors - over whom Barratt seem to excercise no quality control. We bought a Barratt house in November 2003 and I can say it is the worst decision I have ever made. I've been in my new Barratt home in Edinburgh for six months now. After three months Barratt sent me a survey form where they asked "would you recommend Barratt to anyone else"? It's Official! Barratt Homes habitually mislead their customers, and they do not care about providing quality customer service! I moved into a Barratt bungalow just over a year ago. They look lovely inside with pretty little gardens to th efront and rear.
