      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I have used Cumbrian Properties for several years, being under the impression that they were all much the same. This company is unprofessional. They rented out my property and on THREE consecutive occasions found tenants that did not pay their rent. One is bad luck, two, a coincidence but three, starts to smell of incompetence. They are often rude on the telephone and are also the most expensive. Don't risk your property SALE OR RENT, not worth it. There are so many other options in and around Carlisle.

      Completely unproffessional

I am writing this review purely on viewing properties-not from a selling point of view:

Myself and my partner recently decided it was time to get ourselves on the property ladder. In the area we come reside from, Cumbrian properties are one of the most popular estate agents-and from the outset the properties on offer from them looked really nice.

Having seen various properties we liked with Cumbrian Properties and JD Gallagher we decided to view one of each of theirs, which were both within the same sort of price bracket and in exactly the same area as each other.

Our first viewing was with Cumbrian Properties at 11am. Arriving early we sat in our car and waited patiently for the agent who was showing us round. When it got to quarter past eleven our mobile phone began flashing with a mobile number-which happened to be the agent himself. I answered the phone and was asked for directions of how to get to the property which we were due to be viewing fifteen minutes prior to the phone call. We gave him directions but did think that was a little bit unprofessional! The agent arrived with us five minutes later to spend five minutes complaining that his sat nav had sent him to the next village. As someone who has been in the sales industry myself, I wasn't impressed as the bloke didn't even know what he was selling!

As we walked to the property (due to the estate agent not getting the code to open a barrier onto the residential site) we were shocked again to find that the estate agent wasn't sure which property he was meant to be showing us. Not a good start at all- but read on as it gets worse than that. Finally we found the right property-due to my partner and I recognising it from the pictures we had viewed online.

At this stage I was just happy that we had found the property and could finally look inside. The property looked perfect from the outside and was well within our budget. All we needed to do now was open it up and look inside......except the estate agent was having some difficulty unlocking the door. By now I was starting to get a little agitated as we were running late and had still seen nothing. The estate agent spent about ten minutes trying to open the door then managed to open a little shed which also came with the property. "Sorry but you can't view the property as I've not got the right key. Must have changed the lock or something". Very professional I must say. We then walked back to our cars and he said he would get the office to phone us in a few days time. He couldn't tell us if the property was still for sale or if it would be the same price as they had advertised online and in the newspaper.

We were contacted by a lady from Cumbrian Properties who told us they weren't sure what was happening with the property. Even the other residents on the site were able to tell us that the property had been sold a few weeks prior to our 'viewing'. We managed to speak to the actual owner of the site when the estate agent had driven off and he apologised and told us the estate agents were aware weeks ago that the property had been sold. When we phoned up the estate agent a few weeks later after seeing the property in the local papers again they tried to arrange yet another viewing and insisted the property was still up for sale.

We have been into Cumbrian Properties offices on numerous occasions and have always received a satisfactory service from the people inside, but not when we have had viewings.

We have now found another property and have moved in. I would not recommend using Cumbrian Properties due to the level of shear unproffessionalism. Everyone makes mistakes but when we asked the agent questions about the site etc he couldn't answer a single one. So I ask you this question.....Would you take advice of buy from a salesperson who didn't know anything about the product they were selling you?
