Advantages: fast updates via email & Text, Clear payment information/breakdown

Disadvantages: You could be assigned a dreadful solicitor!, All the disadvantages relating to negative attidude and general unwillingness to help, Contradictory information

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LOW MARK RELATES TO THE INDIVIDUAL SOLICITOR WHO WAS ASSIGNED & DEALT WITH OUR CASE AND NOT THE SERVICE PROVIDED BY www.easier2move.co.uk THEMSELVES, WHICH HAS BEEN EXCELLENT.

Relating to period March through June 2004

We live in an uncomplicated, 3 year old property on a very popular estate in a small Cheshire town. The people buying our house are nice, highly cooperative people and like us, have done everything requested of them as quickly and thoroughly as possible to facilitate a speedy move. The lady buying their house is in rented accommodation and as such the chain goes no further back. The owner of the house we are buying does not live there, and the property is vacant, meaning that the chain goes no further up than this.

None of us live in listed buildings, no modifications or planning or access problems exist nor do any of the properties have a difficult or incomplete history and with mortgages etc in place very early on for all of us the legal side of things should have been plain sailing.

All links of the chain have kept in close contact with each other throughout the entire process, which is more than can be said for the solicitors we have been paying. In particular, the solicitor we got assigned via easier2move.

The service provided by www.easier2move.co.uk has been good and we would urge anyone purchasing or selling to use this site. However, luck does not seem to have been on our side when our solicitor was assigned to us; she has been anything but good - completely unapproachable, rude and very unhelpful.

Our main concern has been with communication which we believe has been very, very poor and for the best part unacceptable. All through the process (which despite having only 2 links has taken a whopping 12 weeks SO FAR) we have been told that we could not decide on even a preliminary move date until AFTER we had exchanged contracts. This has made arranging anything ex
tremely difficult. From removals, through to phone line installation, schools mid-term transfers, work and so on; a real nightmare.

Today, as we seem to FINALLY near exchange (although we thought this last week, and the week before that, and the week before that....). I have been told by the supremely arrogant and unhelpful solicitor we were assigned, that 'we can not exchange contracts until we have all decided upon a date' this is completely contradictory to everything we have been told by our solicitor thus far.

As well as a search on the property we are buying not being instigated until week 9 of this process the communication from our solicitor with the vendors has been nothing short of dreadful.

I urge you to consider very carefully if you are assigned Blakemore's law firm, lest you get assigned the surly, unhelpful and arrogant solicitor we got lumbered with. It is astounding that these people are supposedly working FOR us, taking a huge amount of money from us for the most disgraceful, inefficient service I have ever witnessed.

NOTE: Please be advised that we have no argument with the above named law firm, but with the unnamed individual Conveyancing solicitor we have been assigned on this occasion.

Good review! I can totally sympathise, we moved twice in the same year and used the same small branch of solicitors on both occassions, only got assigned different solicitors each time, the first bent over backwards to help us and the second couldn't have been less helpful if she tried, even refusing to take our calls! Hope you exchange soon!
