Bridgefords are the worst ever. I called them to make an appointment to view a house. The estate agent (where do they recruit them from anyway?) told me that they could only show me the house if I went to the branch to, as he put it, check my finances. I said no because:
a) I work and I do not have the time;
b) I also do not intend to spend my Saturday morning with an estate agent so that s/he can 'check' my finances when the only thing I want is to view a particular which I do not even know if I will like it.

In fact what they want is to get a morgage agreement down your throat, denying you the chance and right to shop around as you should.
This said, he then told me that I could not make the appointment to view the house. I was appalled! Does the vendor know, I thought? I knocked at the vendor's door and told him. The man was beside himself - turning down potential buyers in the current market situation is not a very smart thing to do.

I would not go with this agency: as a buyer or vendor... I just do not want anything to do with them.

Summary: getting morgages down your throat & turning potential buyers away...
