Pushy and rude Esate Agents (Estate Agents in general)

Advantages: We need them to buy and sell house and it gives people jobs!

Disadvantages: They are pushy and rude and won't take no for an answer!

Estate Agents are important people and they know it! I have been looking for a house to buy for a little while now and I have regularly popped into estate agents to see what they have on the market although no one likes them we all have to use them to buy or sell a property. When you go in, they strut over and ask if they can help you. I always say yes and tell them what I am looking for at the moment it is a 2 bed or more, must have parking and a garden and the area and price I am looking to buy at they then go to there filing cabinet and pull out houses out. Then without giving you a chance would you like to view any of those? Well hang on a second!

Then you get the have you looked into mortgages. Hard sell here... We have an independent mortgage advisor who would love to see you. Try to stay no but it is best to just leave! The other thing I find hard is when they hand me details for a property and I do not like it so I say no not that one and hand it back. I hate wasting paper so I do not want to take details for houses that are not for me. Then you get what is wrong with that one? I don't always know the answer but I do know that I am looking at spending over £100,000 and I am not going to buy something I don't like if I was buying sock I might just take any pair but this is a house that I am going to spend a long time living in and paying for!

The next problems are the phone calls. While in the agents, they often ask for your details so they can send you details of houses that come onto the market that they think you might like. Then they phone me every time a house comes on the market with... Hello we just have a one bed flat we thought might interest you... UMM nope, I want a 2-bed house! Then they phone every week to check I am still looking for a house to tell me they have nothing that meets my requirements now. The worse for this I find are alder king!

Estate agents need to chill out a bit when people are spending thousands of pounds they like to have time to think and if they say no to a house that is it! They also need to lay off the phone and leave buyers alone.

I have been shown around a house by a women from the Estate Agents and that was no better I went with my mum and every time I mentioned something I didn't like she chipped in with comments. I know I can paint move things and change the house I just want to voice my opinion to my mum without being rudely interrupted.

When I tried to sell my house, I found the agents very lazy! My house was suppose to appear in the paper every week and it was more like once a month they made very little effort to sell my house until I decided to go with a second agent. I ended up with the house for sale under two agents and the one that sold it got the money! This made them work much harder I had open days, etc and within 3 weeks it was sold!

Overall Estate agents are rubbish but we do need them to sell and buy houses. They are however very rude to buyer and too pushy. They need to let people think without pushing them and they need to take no for an answer!
