Advantages: None

Disadvantages: 3 good selling months wasted and my front door key lost!

I approached Foxtons (Ealing) to sell my house in April but only wanted to start selling in May when I came back from holiday. The manager was round my house like Jack Flash, and after the soft soap and hard sell about "Sunday markets" (never materialised), and wide area of influence through extensive advertising (never saw any apart from the web site) I fell for it and signed an open ended contract ("don't worry it will be sold in 3 months"). This happened 4 hours before the tv expose! Oh dear. Their mistake was to send me another contract to sign and I stipulated 3 months - ending 1st August.
Although I asked them not to start selling before May, they started ringing me about viewings straight away. I succumbed and gave them a key to come and go as they pleased.
What with being phoned whilst driving, by a very distraught agent who couldn't close my back door, and having viewings cancelled at the last minute or not even being told that viewings were cancelled it was a pretty traumatic 3 months. I rang them last week to ask if we could call it a day but they were insistent they continue till the end of the month. Today I rang to get my key back, only to be told it has been lost! According to the contract all I can expect back is a replacement key worth £3.
My feelings regarding Foxtons? Allegedly, I received 9 viewings in 3 months (I have asked for their names so Foxtons cannot come back and demand monies for an introduction). I'm off to buy a replacement lock tomorrow - cost £45. Do I trust them? What do you think! If I can put one person off going to them it was worth it!

Summary: If you are thinking of selling your house - do not go to Foxtons

I do agree with you. We've recently moved to London and bought our house through a reliable agent in Notting Hill after being gazumped at the last minute from Foxtons. I would not really recommend them if one is purchasing a house, for fear of this happening to them!
