Advantages: great service up to exchange of contracts on sales
Disadvantages: build quiliyty , paint work , attitude towards me now they have 10% of my money.
i write this review to give insite to the situation i find my self at present with geoerge whimpey.
two weeks ago i exchanged contracts and severn days later i have completed a visit on the property, this is how the issues started.
as i viewed the house with only 5 working days to go .At this moment i have grave concerns in the wokmanship of the house and garden.
the following are the areas ,
incomplete paint work poor finish in all rooms on walls ceillngs door frames.
banister up and down stairs needs a complete sanding and repaint, skirting boards lightly painted to the point a grey undercoat is showing through.
damage to window frame
options that should have been fitted not fitted and they were not even aware that they were missing they had not botherd to check.and there are so many other factors whats above does not touch the surface of it.light fittings in ceiling -there are spot lights fitted well they have attempted to fit them
floor tiles of kitchen floor incomplete and solution was to batten out unit not finish tiles, under stair cupboard light put into wall not cielling? and then the garden well lets just say i asked if ground force was in next week.
the worrying part is that i have said that they are not ready to complete and the response is that im over stating things. the real concern is that now im in a situation were im so unhappy i wish i had never entered into a contract with them....this was supposed to be a new dream home for me well now it feels far from that. and now it feels like a legal mess which will cost me but i fear once i move in its to late then no matter what the insurances are because the way they have reacted now worries me and i have not even moved in yet
Summary: george whimpey 100% satisfaction -dont believe it!

I recently bought a GW home in Redhill. The service was very good until the sale was completed. The quality and after sales service is appaling. Now I am cursing myseld. I should have gone for the nearby Barret home. |

- 16/10/05 Hi Mt Jones, Having been in my Wimpey home home for 18 months the best advice I can give is this, Go to the top!!! Dont waste time with site managers or formen because they dont care!!! In my experience things happend when I started writing to directors. Also in the case of my garden I informed the sales staff on site I would be spending my weekends in the show home garden until the problems with my own garden were rectified. I also informed the sales staff that while sunning myself in the show home garden I would inform any visitors to the show home of all my outstanding problems with Wimpey. This really got things moving!!!! Be strong and dont give up make sure you get what you paid for.
