Advantages: House design/layout, sales and site manager support, quality of build, location

Disadvantages: quality of appliances questionable

I have lived in my GW home in Leeds for nearly 12 months, I found the sales staff most knowledgable, they ensured i knew everything about the development (including the negative things like a sub-station nearby my desired plot)they even told me the carpet would have a joint in it because the room is 5m wide and the carpet we like only came in 4m widths. The Site Manager was/is very helpful, and even made sure that a couple of site men could help with a large item of furniture, the site is still on-going but is kept clean and tidy with regular road sweeps, the site staff do make noise but i would have to say that this was clearly identified to us when we reserved.
There were items of snagging (its my profession!)but nothing more than I would expect, the usual things like shrinkage cracks, floor sqweaks and doors catching, these (except the cracking which i knew to be within the NHBC tolorences) were all dealt with within a couple of weeks, as new items have become apparent, they have been dealt with reasonably quickly. they appliances (wont name em for legal reasons)have been tempremental, the DWasher has broken down once, so has the WMachine, it took over 3 days for a repair in both instances, only the same as buying off the high street i suppose, GW Customer care manager did offer to pay for any costs to have a service wash/dry/iron etc which was a well recieved gesture which we didnt take up despite my wifes best efforts to keep the machine broken as long as possible (she hates ironing)...8-)
I would like to say that this is the 4th New home I have owned (my 2nd GW Home), and as a professional property snagging surveyor I would have to say that no new home builder can provide a defect free house, its practically impossible, but I would be happy to buy another GW house.

Best advice is to check to see if the Site Manager has won any NHBC awards( mine have one a "seal of Excellance"(just about the highest award available in house building), if he/she has, then your onto a winner, thats not to say that any SM who hasnt a NHBC award is'nt good, they may not have been with that builder long enough to get marked.

Oh, and make sure you treat em all fairly, I have dealt with Managers all my life, and the vast majority would love for you to be happy, but if you get nasty, you will only loose the goodwill they would offer you by being nice to em, treat people how you expect to be treated!.

by the way, i'm not on commission!, i just hate to see bad comments not being balanced with positive comments, were all good at complaining arnt we, I know I am! 8-)

Summary: I'd buy another
