I bought my first property last year through Halifax. What a horrible experience! Not wanting to get in over my head, before even LOOKING at properties I had spoken to an independent financial advisor and arranged a mortgage at a rate I was happy with. I figured that this way, as soon as I found a house I liked I would be good to go. Halifax weren't at ALL happy with this. It wasn't good enough that I wanted to put a bid in on one of their properties - they wanted me to get the mortgage too, whether I liked it or not. Halifax (Catford branch) - this relates to 2004/5 I don't like it when agents overvalue property (just to get you to sign up to them and then they ask you to reduce the price to generate interest) or to under value your property (just to get a quick sale on your property). Well Halifax (Catford), undervalued my property. I have now sold my property and can confirm I managed to get more then their valuation.
