Advantages: None whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disadvantages: The Halifax being in the high street-or anywhere else
Please, please, please do not use the Halifax to sell your home. The only way i can describe our selling expereience with them is an absolute nightmare. We enlisted the Halifax to sell our house because we had our mortgage with them and so qualified for a discount-A very good marketing ploy on their part. We signed on the dotted line and our house went on the market, the sign went up straight away-Great everythings going fine or so we thought. We sat and waited for the phone to ring for viewers. we sat we sat and Yes you've guessed it we sat a bit more. Viewers were far and few between. We'd put the house on the market for less than we had paid for it too attract viewers and ensure a quick sale. We used to go into the Halifax once a week to ask them what they were actively doing to sell our house. They told us reduce it. Everytime we spoke to them it was always the same reduce it. Eventually we did reduce and got a letter from them saying all paperwork had been amended but when we looked on the estate agents window it was still at the old price. They sent viewers one weekend when i had rang and told them we were going away. We had just pulled up in the car and there was a couple standing there saying we've come to view. We rang the Halifax up pretending to be potential viewers on our own house and they did not try to sell it too us at all. The specifications they produce are of poor quality-usually with a photograph a 5 year old could have taken better. We feel they did nothing at all to sell our house and we actually went out into the street and asked passers by if they were interested in buying our house. You might ask why we didn't move estate agents but if we did we had too pay a withdrawl fee(75.00+vat)plus all advetisements This totalled 500.00. I can talk about the Halifax all day these are just a few examples of what they did for us (or rather didn't)
<br> Oh Yes!!! We did finally sell 18 months later at a loss of 4000.00 on the house. Happy selling.

- 09/08/00 Not just you then! We appointed the Halifax and after a month, we, like you found they weren't promoting or trying to sell our house at all! They didn't chase viewers up, were slapdash and we told them to take their sign down. We changed to Manning Stainton and got an offer (plus loads of viewers) within 5 weeks! |
