We were buying a Persimmon Home through their home-mover scheme - where they pay the estate agent and HIP fees. We found a full asking price buyer quickly - twice - but unfortunately due to minor problems they fell through. The property was back on the market for a couple of days with a lot of interest (we currently have a city centre flat, with ... Read the complete review

A lot of people knock Persimmon Homes, as they do with most home builders. It may be that I've been lucky, or it might just be that people prefer to complain, but I've had very few problems and, four months down the line, am more than happy with my purchase. My Fiancée and I made the decision to buy a Persimmon property back in February ... Read the complete review

I'm just about to receive the keys to my Persimmon home. Be warned, they changed the look of the house without telling me. It is in the missives that they can do this but I now have a different looking house from the rest of the development so they can save money - they removed the stone features and replaced them with brick. They told me this was because of a defect in the stone then proceeded to build further properties in the development with this stone!! Trying to save money me thinks!!!!!

Never buy a home from Persimmon Homes wouldn't even give it one star!!!!!!!!!- We moved into our property in January 2007 as a new home - May 2008 one of the internal steps collapsed and my partner and 3 month old fell down the stairs. Persimmon came out and said it was a bit of "shrinkage" and that they had effected a full and permenant repair. Beginning of 2009 and we had more movement in our internal stairs and it had dropped, when we had the plaster removed the work was apalling, it was condemned by a structural surveyor, the stairs weren't attached to the wall pieces were missing and structural posts were missing, the permenant repair was a piece of skirting board to cover a gap....never ever buy a home from these cowboys they are a disgrace to the building trade!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I moved into a new home about six months ago and I am still waiting for some issues to be fixed unfortuantely. To be fair I was very impressed with the service that I recieved before I moved in although I was disappointed to find that on the site I was interested in they had stopped supplying things like the over, grass in the garden ... Please really consider whether you should buy from Persimmon. We bought a 4 bed house in Devon 6 months ago and haven't even had half of our snagging list completed. We were lied to by the sales agents, stating we would get railings as the rest of the site had them, but then they refused to erect them, only after we had exchanged. Seriously, it is just not worth buying from Persimmon, there are too many other choices out there, and it will just make your life hell. They leave sites in a disgusting state.

I would not advise anyone to purchase a home from Persimmons. Their customer service and aftercare is very poor. I purchased a new detached property from them and have had numerous problems which should never have occurred. Persimmons had to be chased all the way to sort the problems and now, after two years, more problems are coming to light through bad workmanship. Think very carefully before purchasing from them and definitely take out a snagging contract with a third party company to fight for your rights.
Their website would have you believe that they care but, after getting your money, you can forget it !

We bought a two bed appartment last year and have so far had no problems at all, there was about 6 major snags and a few more very minor ones that they came and did for us within a couple of weeks of us moving in. Although we decided to move in whilst the site was still only half completed we found that the builders were very considerate and work ... Read the complete review

We bought our Persimmon home almost two years ago now and we are generally pleased with the construction of the actual building. We were able to get quite a good deal from them. They paid 5 per cent of our deposit - about £7500 and carpeted the place out for us. When we moved into the development we were in the middle of a building site ... Read the complete review

We bought a Persimmon Home just over 2 years ago. Right from the start we had 180 snags. We called in the NHBC who sent an incompitant inspector (he tried to use a spirit level on a stippled cealing) who refused to enforce his companys own standards and sided with the builder. We subsequently found out that the house is non ... Read the complete review

We are currently in the process of a part ex move with Persimmon and are due to complete shortly. We have experienced many many issues right from the start, such as roof tiles missing, poor brick work, damp under standard kitchen, shower cubical too small, very poor finish and flat ceelings which are about as flat as a gravelled drive. As for Head Office there Customer Service skills are nearly as bad as the houses they build. One thing for sure is i will never and i advise everyone thinking about buying a new house never buy one from Persimmon. I cant believe a company treats there customers so poorly and continue to do business. I have entered a rating of 1 out of 5 only because this site does not have minus ratings.

Persimmon are without doubt the builders from hell.
We moved into our new house in May 1999.
Within 12 months we had 35 different problems including no cavity insulation, living room floor uneven, toilet leaking, sewage problems, poor brickwork to name a few.
We had to bring in the NHBC, the house was freezing even with the heating on full.
When the arrogent manager from Persimmon turned up he was rude, & unhelpful until he realised that 1, the NHBC guy was fighting my corner and 2, he was likely to lose his teeth upon leaving my house.
consequently the problems were put right and they offered £500 for inconvenience.
The whole estate turned out to be a problem with one disaster after another.
I would sooner live in a tent than buy another Persimmon house.
One star because I have to give one.

We are buying a persimmon home currently, and so far they seem good but the build is several months away. The site we are buying on is well laid out and presented and the finish seems great on the houses. Has anyone got any good stories to tell though, as it seems generally (and rightly) people are quicker to complain than praise and ... Read the complete review

I live in an 'upmarket' Persimmon development. In common with the other residents here we bought for the location. It is just a sad fact that Persimmon were the developers. They left the site shabby and unfinished, with some serious omissions, and handed responsibility for it to a management company whose performance so far suggests that they may be related. Customer service from both companies is so poor it is beyond belief.
