Advantages: Lots of properties

Disadvantages: Tactless, ruthless, greedy, money grabbing

Now I have to say personally I would never make the mistake of dealing with these con artists, but the information in this review is the experiences I have seen first hand through my friends and boyfriend who did have the misfortune of getting into business with them.

Now first my boyfriends experience. Priya Properties were nice as ever when showing them round the house, getting their desposits and giving over the keys. It was a 1 year contract with a summer retainer as is pretty standard for a student let. Priya said that it would be fine to store things in the house over summer and that they would be perfectly safe, only 1 of the students took this option and it's lucky that this was the case.

Unknown the the tenants building work was carried out on the house over the summer, and the builders stole almost *all* of my friends things. They used up food, used cutlery and left it unwashed and mouldy, stole things that was irreplaceable and had been in her family for years. After complaining about this to Priya they refused to tell them who the contractors were to recover the stuff, apparently the police couldn't help as the builders had been given keys so no breaking and entering had occured. It took the entire year and threat of small claims court for Priya to finally admit my friend wasn't lying and reimburse her for £30- a figure that did not nearly anywhere near what the stuff was worth.

Later in the year, the house was broken into through no fault of the tenants own. A window into a back cupboard had been smashed in and the robbers had entered through there. Priya even tried to blame this on the students and suggested it was their fault because the back gate to their alley was unlcoked! When in reality there is no 2 way lock on this gate and the walls of the back garden are so low anyone could have entered from anyone else's gate or alley. The students had to pay for an emergency call out to replace the window as Priya were nowhere to be found, and it was only 2 days later someone from the company actually turned up. And in the worst way possible! After having their personal space violated and their things trashed the find the owner of Priya properties standing in their house when they came in looking at the windows and going through their things! No tact whatsoever, and especially bad from a legal point of view as landlords need 24 hours warning to enter premises. Priya would not pay for the window for ages and eventually tried to deduct it from their deposits again!

I know several other people who have left their properties spotless and were charged for cleaning and repairs just for Priya to squeeze more money out of them. Other times new houses have been found filthy on arrival. I know someone who even found squatters in their house when they moved in!

Generally it seems Priya Properties are the worst kind of estate agents, your best friend when they want something and ruthless and money grabbing when the chips are down. Even though they have some great looking houses on their books I would never do business with them to chance an experience as horrible as some of the ones I've known.

Summary: Avoid at all costs!

As I said the experiences I am writing about are of my friends therefore I didn't personally ring the police to ask.
I have changed the line to "apparently" if this would not be the case from a police perspective but not willing to change the review as these as the facts as they've been told to me

"the police couldn't help as no breaking and entering had occured"

Seeing as I work for the police I can say with all certainty that this is not true. It's a theft, possibly from a dwelling. Based on this I have rated your somewhat useful. If there is any change to the facts of this let me know and I will happily re-rate.
