Reeds Rains

I am an Estate Agent in the North East so therefore I have dealt with a number of Reeds Rains branches all over the North. Obviously like with every company there will be some competition (we want to sell a house before they do etc) but with Reeds Rains it is far more than that. We are friendly with the staff of all the other Estate Agents in the town and find them easy to speak to if we want advise or comparable prices etc but not Reeds Rains. My experience with Reeds Rains was a nightmare from start to finish. I dealt with the Ossett branch - there are only three agents in the town so choice is limited - but the lesson I learned was simple. Just use any other company than Reeds Rains. The problems were constant, relentless really. But most of all they were needless. Error followed error, similar to the other reviews here, and it was things that mattered that weren't complicated that they got wrong. For example, my lender required some basic work done on the house I was buying and the seller had agreed to do it. "Has this work been done?" The service provided to me as a tennant with Reeds Rains (by Reeds Rains Management Team) was completely unsatisfactory. Fortunately we had few problems, however the problems we did have were dealt with anything but promptly and politely. When our Television broke it took over 6 weeks and as many phone calls for them to send somebody round to fix it. Each time we spoke to the management team or left a message for them, they never did. One month our branch sent a letter to me threatening legal action because I hadn't paid my rent. We tried selling our house through Reeds Rains in the North East. It was a complete disaster from start to finish, they overpriced it, failed to get any viewings, and messed up those they did get. After a few months of no viewings with no advice from Reeds Rains on what to do, we got fed up, binned them off, and defected to Beercock Wiles and Wick. Thankfully BW&W were brilliant and sold it within a fortnight. Reeds Rains then had the cheek to sniff round and see if the people buying were introduced to us by them (i.e. so we'd have to pay them a commission). Oh Dear. Really wanted to believe that the horror stories regarding Reeds Rains were isolated incidents - but having been on the receiving end of their entirely inept customer service I am now joining in on the rally to ensure other people know what they are letting themselves in for. We dealt with the Northwich office, near Chester, in regard to renting a property back in December. It has taken until now for us to be able to write about it here.
