Advantages: None - unless you count the fact that we are now ultra cautious of all estate agents?

Disadvantages: Bad service. Very Bad. Argumentative to boot!

Oh Dear. Really wanted to believe that the horror stories regarding Reeds Rains were isolated incidents - but having been on the receiving end of their entirely inept customer service I am now joining in on the rally to ensure other people know what they are letting themselves in for. We dealt with the Northwich office, near Chester, in regard to renting a property back in December. It has taken until now for us to be able to write about it here.

The brief version is that, basically, staff were downright rude and insulting, misleading at all times, constantly passed the buck with the likes of "she's out of the office today..." etc. For THE biggest expenditure in any ones monthly outgoings it is imperative that the people you deal with for your mortgage or rent have at least a shred of decency. Reeds Rains and all their staff do not have one shred to share between them. These people really need to be trained in customer service skills - it is evident that they just find people off the streets with a chip on their shoulder, then let them loose on the public.

Yes, it seems a common trend among estate agents that they believe they are different race of people and often lack common decency but Reeds Rains are another level of ignorance and poor customer service skills - or basic social skills for that matter.

I was always 100% polite and professional when dealing with them and yet, for those of you who may benefit from an example - when I once rang to confirm a detail regarding our rental I was told "We really don't need to be having this conversation". EXCUSE ME?!!! I am the customer and ready to commit to spending approximately £4000 in total - we will have any conversation I require! This is just one example from the long list of disgraceful behaviour on their part.

The upshot was that we got rid of them - went with another agent. Which shows how disgusted we were as we had already paid the nearly £200 credit/reference fees which we have never got back. Please - go with other agents and spare yourselves the heartache.

Summary: They were so very poor, but when we tried to sort things out they turned nasty.
